Here we are making our way through the halfway point of another fun-filled week! I don’t know about you guys, but I am totally ready to hurdle the hump and make way for the freakin’ weekend. Bluegrass duo Darlin’ Corey will be performing at Frontier this evening as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge Wednesday night music series. Starting at 7:30 you can stop in and check out the pair’s delightful blend of vocal harmonies, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and guitars that are used to make up some truly unique bluegrass, old timey and folk sounds. This show is all ages and free so be sure to make some plans to check it out.
The Working Dead are bringing some grooves to Portland House of Music for another Happy Hour jam sesh. This trio of talented local musicians will be serving up some Grateful Dead jams during a free show that starts around 5 o’clock.
Check out a super fun and free show over at Flask Lounge tonight as they host another installment of Acoustic Punk Night featuring stripped down, acoustic tunes from Peter Thomas O’Brien of Rays Occult, Scotty Saints of Port City Saints, Ande Greene of The Keeper Class, Andrea Leighton of Annie & The Guns, Carlton Trott of Spidermilk, Matt Andersen of Gant and many more. Slug and Ant of rap act Atmosphere return to the State Theatre in Portland from some compelling hip-hop action. Brother Ali, Dem Atlas, Plain Ole Bill and Last Word round out tonight’s bill as things start up at the State right around 7 o’clock.
Blue welcomes Paddy Keenan with Owen Marshall to the stage as part of their weekly Irish Concert Series. This ticket event starts at 7:30. Paddy is probably the best know uilleann piper on the planet. He has been called the Paganinni of the Pipes as well as the Jimi Hendrix of the Pipes. The Ladies in Red music series continues tonight over at MJ’s Wine Bar with vocalist Susanne Gerry and Portland piano man Mike Maurice as the pair bring you an evening of lounge-style tunes. Settle in and enjoy a variety of jazz, soul, pop and R&B songs as this free shindig gets swinging at 8.
Make some plans this Wednesday evening to check out the down-home and acoustic roots sounds of David Beam and the Custom House Gang at Andy’s Old Port Pub. There’s more in the way of Grateful Dead jams tonight as Portland House of Music and Events welcomes back Built To Last, a Grateful Dead experience featuring members of The Working Dead, Maine Dead Project, and Smoked Salmon. The band promises to bring some good tunes and good vibes to the stage as things get underway right around 9 o’clock.
Southern Maine country duo Never Been To Tennessee will be singing some songs at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza tonight. Starting at 7 Scott Girouard and Kevin Ward will be serving up classic country covers from such artists as Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and a whole lot more during this free all ages show.
The Frog and Turtle welcomes back local musician Tom Douglas for an evening of acoustic classic covers and original songs. Join Tom as this free and all-ages show starts up at 7:30pm.
