It’s time to power up and power through another Wednesday, babies! There’s a plethora of musical performances to take in tonight so hike up those Party Pants and get ready to work it on out this evening at such shows as Los Galactacos at Frontier, The Jacob Jolliff Band at One Longfellow Square, Acoustic Punk Night at Flask Lounge, Myles Bullen at The Dogfish Bar & Grille, Tom Douglas at The Frog and Turtle, and more!
If you’re looking to check out some open mic action this evening make plans to head out to BeBe’s Burritos and Cantina in Saco as they host another free an all ages gathering. This musical event features a full PA system for musicians to use as well as the opportunity for musicians to establish future gigs at the venue. There will be great food and drink available while you participate in an open mic that always features a welcoming audience in a fun atmosphere. This evening’s open mic starts up at 6:30pm.
Check out a free show down at Champions tonight as roots rocker Travis James Humphrey plays a free show starting up at 10pm.
Local musical group, Los Galactacos, comprised of adventuring stringbenders, strummers, pickers, and percussionists exploring an atlas of music styles and songs, will be performing at Frontier once again tonight as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge music series. Los Galactacos repertoire includes Tex/Mex folk, Appalachian string music, Canadian Maritimes fiddle tunes, the Classic American Songbook, ol’ time Country, and more. Check them out as things get underway at 7:30 during tonight’s free performance.
Folk-rock outfit Rippleton Cross hosts another open mic at Cole Farms tonight. The pair will be performing some tunes as well as encouraging others to get up on the microphone for some musical merriment and creative fun as this free and all ages gathering gets started at 7pm.
Pop-tinged Americana duo Copilot will be soaring into town for another show over at Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Join the pair for some fun tunes during this free, all-ages show as the music starts at 7 o’clock.
One Longfellow Square welcomes The Jacob Jolliff Band this Wednesday evening. Jacob Jolliff is one of the country’s premier contemporary mandolinists. Before joining Yonder Mountain String Band, Jolliff was an integral member of New England roots band, Joy Kills Sorrow. See his next generation bluegrass supergroup on stage starting at 8pm.
Check out a super fun and free show over at Flask Lounge tonight as they host another installment of Acoustic Punk Night featuring stripped down, acoustic sets by Scotty Saints, Johnny Knox (Krook Shank), Ande Greene, Sean Merrihew, Jim Cougar Camp, George Wiegand, Matt Andersen and more. Check out some unplugged punk performances as things start up at 8.
Portland poet and hip-hop artist, Myles Bullen will be performing at The Dogfish Bar & Grille tonight during a free and all-ages show that’ll start up at 8pm.
Blue’s weekly Irish Concert Series continues tonight with the only US performance by Hanz Down & The Hups. Led by Hanz Araki, who is considered one of the most talented Irish musicians in America today, flautist, whistle player, singer, and Juno Award-winner, this show is certainly not to be missed by any fans of the genre. Things get underway at 8pm.
Bull Feeney’s on Fore Street welcomes back Dave Rowe to the stage this Wednesday as Rowe plays his own brand of folk-infused drinking tunes starting at 8. There’s never, ever a cover charge and also never, ever a shortage of cold beer, so make some moves and check this fella out this evening.
Get your folk-pop on tonight with a free show from the Dapper Gents Duo as they return to the stage of RiRa for a free show that’ll get underway at 9 o’clock.
Aura in Portland presents Bret Michaels with special guest Leaving Eden. A cultural icon, a rock god, an entrepreneur, a TV star, the face of the American Diabetes Association, and frontman of one of rock’s most iconic and enduring band’s, Poison, Bret Michaels brings his live show to the stage of Aura tonight alongside opening rock act, Leaving Eden. Things get cranking right around 9.
Crooners & Cocktails welcomes back local duo Hello Clarice as this pair of talented fellas bring some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.
The Frog and Turtle welcomes back local musician Tom Douglas for an evening of acoustic classic covers and original songs. Join Tom as this free and all-ages show starts up at 7:30pm.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
