Aura presents Chris Isaak with special guest Jeff Leblanc

Celebrate this Wednesday by getting weird and absolutely wild at any (or all) of these live shows all across the state tonight. Here we go! Check out some fun happenings such as Stesha Cano at the Lighthouse Arts Center, Ron Bergeron at Pedro O’Hara’s, the Bob Charest Band at Riverbank Park, Time Pilots at O’Reilly’s Cure, Kevin Midgley Players at Andy’s, Eric Bettencourt & Friends at Portland Lobster Company, and more!


Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Champions tonight for another free, solo set that’ll start up right around 9:30 this evening.


Stesha Cano and her talented band mates will be performing at the Lighthouse Arts Center in Bucksport this evening as part of the Wednesday on Main concert series. Beginning at 5:30pm you can check out this free and family-friendly show that’ll feature Stesha’s original blues and jazz jams.


Local musician Ron Bergeron will be playing another free show at the Pedro O’Hara’s tonight. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 7 o’clock with tons great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.


Local pop-rock musician Alex Roy is back at The Brunswick tonight. Roy will be joined by a few musically inclined pals for some original tunes and cover songs. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be a good time so swing through if you’re in the area as the music starts up at 7.


The Porthole hosts local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett once again this evening as he performs a set of his own original acoustic pop and funk songs as well as some fun covers. Things get started at 6 o’clock out on the deck so stop through and check it out if you’re in the area this evening.

THIS SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED — The Goo Goo Dolls are back in Portland tonight as they bring their uplifting, anthemic alternative pop that made them superstars in the late ’90s to the stage of the Maine State Pier. This evening’s all ages show gets underway at 6pm with an opening set by soulful singer-songwriter and winner of the 11th season of American Idol, Phillip Phillips.

Eric Bettencourt is still playing around town and tonight he’ll be joining a few pals once again out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company for some musical merriment. I anticipate lots of good times and good tunes as this free show starts up at 6:30pm.

Blue welcomes Tonto Triste to the stage this evening. Tonto Triste is a multicultural group of musicians from right here in Portland. Their eclectic original music is a peculiar amalgamation of 20th century classical, jazz, flamenco, and American rock. See them tonight as their show starts up right around 7 o’clock.

The Kevin Midgley Players are back at Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. These local musicians will be performing some Americana and Delta blues tunes as this free show starts up at 7 o’clock.

Aura in Portland presents Chris Isaak with special guest Jeff Leblanc tonight. American crooner, Chris Isaak, who channels the golden era sound of Roy Orbison, became an unlikely hit maker in the 1990s with songs such as “Wicked Game”, “Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing” and “Somebody’s Crying.” See him tonight as things get underway at 8pm.

Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out another fun evening of folk tunes with local musician Dave Rowe. Rowe’s free show starts up at 8 so swing through and check him out if you’re in the downtown area this evening.

Folk-pop-rock act the Dapper Gents Duo returns to RiRa for some good times and good tunes tonight. This free party gets started at 9 o’clock.

Check out some good tunes and good vibes going down at Portland House of Music and Events tonight as The Maine Dead Project returns to the stage as part of their summer residency. These talented locals will be taking on the tunes of the Grateful Dead as this groovy gathering gets underway right around 9 o’clock.

Tacoma Narrows, a 6 piece folk-rock band from New York City, will be performing at Blue this evening. A blend of folk, bluegrass, Americana, funk, and rock, this act has a little something for everyone. Check them out tonight as their performance gets underway at 9 o’clock.

More midweek fun happens once again at Crooners & Cocktails as Hello Clarice brings some tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.


Party band and cover act, The Time Pilots will be playing unplugged at O’Reilly’s Cure in Scarborough this evening. Join them for acoustic covers from such artists as Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley and more as well as a few original tunes thrown in as this free and all-ages event gets underway at 7pm.


The party-polished Bob Charest Band will be entertaining one and all at Riverbank Park as part of the Summer Concert Series this evening.  This versatile and fun cover band will be rockin’ a free, family-friendly party starting at 6pm.

Local singer songwriter Cameron Thayer will be playing an acoustic set at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza this evening. Join Thayer as this all-ages and free show starts up right around 7 o’clock.

Local adult-contemporary folk rock artist Don Campbell returns to The Frog and Turtle tonight for a free, all-ages show that will start at 7:30pm.


Holly Nunan

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
