Even though it may seem like the week has been dragging, we are actually making some serious strides towards the freakin’ weekend. There are a bunch of great shows going on so get out there and throw down this Thursday night! Don Hebert of local classic cover act The Veggies goes solo for a show at 84 Court Pizza & Restaurante in Auburn tonight. Don will be bringing a show chock full of fun and danceable cover tunes to this free, all ages shindig starting at 7pm.
Gritty’s in Auburn welcomes back Michael Krapovicky for an evening of acoustic pop-rock originals and covers. Be sure to join Michael right around 7 as he gets the good times and tunes rollin’ along during this free and fun event.
Acoustic Americana act Double Entendre will be hosting an open bluegrass jam at The Gin Mill in Augusta this evening. Join in on the musical revelry as things get underway at 7:30pm.
Check out acoustic tunes from local singer-songwriter Bill Howard as he returns to The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro this evening. Bill will be playing some songs during this free, all-ages show which gets started up at 6.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
Pop-rock musician Alex Roy will be performing a set of original tunes and cover songs at Jimmy The Greek’s this Thirsty Thursday. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be a good time so swing through if you’re in the area as the music starts up at 7.
Aura presents Everclear: So Much For The Afterglow 20th Anniversary Tour with Vertical Horizon and Fastball tonight. It’s been 20 years since Everclear released their 1997 multi-platinum smash, So Much For The Afterglow, yet the album remains a beloved fan favorite, and continues to inspire new generations of musicians and fans today.Don’t miss your chance to see Everclear perform the beloved record in its entirety as well as see performances by alternative rock acts, Vertical Horizon and Fastball tonight beginning at 7pm.
Get down on it this Thursday with some explosive, high-energy funk, jazz, soul and R&B at Portland House of Music and Events as The Nth Power returns to Portland for a night of serious soulful fun. Things get bumping right around 8 with opening sets by the funky, fun and fabulous Skosh and Andrew Bailie.
Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins will be hanging out at RiRa again for some sweet, acoustic action. You know Ben from his time spent pop-rockin’ as the frontman of the band Kilcollins, but this evening he teams up with the talented Vargas Twins for some fun cover tunes and originals starting right around 9.
Tonight get wild and weird with three awesome and unique rock n’ roll bands at Geno’s. Starting at 9, check out electrifying sets from Lousy, Cushing and Bully Mammoth. Swing through, enjoy some tunes, and rock it out tonight.
Check out an awesome show happening at Port City Music Hall tonight as they welcome Zion I to the stage. This duo of genre-bender pride has made a name for itself by successfully mixing spiritualism and hip-hop. MC Zumbi and DJ/producer Amp Live blend hip-hop and trip-hop beats with lyrics focused on a message of unity, hope, and spiritual awareness. Portland’s own driven hip-hop heavy Shane Reis will open the show with a set that’ll start up at 9 o’clock.
8-piece of Mid-Western funk act, Sidewalk Chalk will be bringing the party upstairs at Empire tonight. Alternative hip-hop duo, Little Stranger will kick things off with a set that’ll start up around 9 o’clock.
90’s cover band Ice Cold Zima will be rockin’ the night away at Amigo’s. Travel back to a time of JNCO jeans, bucket hats, and bowl cuts with some cover tunes of No Doubt, Fiona Apple, The Cardigans, 4 Non Blondes, Green Day, Lauryn Hill, Bonnie Raitt, Stone Temple Pilots, Alanis Morissette, and more as things get jumpin’ right around 9:30.
Pete Witham returns to Easy Day in South Portland this evening with some more fun Americana and rockabilly music this Thursday. Pete will most likely be joined by a rotating cast of characters as they bring the good times and tunes to this free show, that’ll start up at 6pm.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
