If you’re on a roll then get ready to do it to it once again this Tuesday by checking out all of the happenings that are going down tonight including Ronda Dale at Andy’s, Choro Louco at Blue, an open mic with Uke n’ Smile at Sea Dog Brewing Company, and more!
Blue welcomes Trikala back tonight. The act draws their influences from Carnatic Music (South India’s classical music tradition) and jazz and features an assortment of Western instruments including alto saxophone, guitar, and keyboards. Stop in beginning at 6:30 as these musicians blend Western timbres, Eastern melody, and rhythm to create evocative compositions steeped in tradition with a contemporary twist.
Start off your evening with a free show from local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale at Andy’s Old Port Pub in the Old Port. Starting at 7pm, Ronda will be filling to space with some delightful sounds during this all-ages, acoustic performance.
Check out some tunes from Portland’s only Brazilian choro ensemble, Choro Louco as they play a free show at Blue tonight. Choro Louco features local musicians Carl Dimow, Nicole Rabata, Joel Eckhaus, Eric LaPerna, and David Newsmam. This evening’s performance gets underway at 8:30.
Another Open DJ Night is happening at Flask Lounge. Beginning at 9, you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open decks. All you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones. This event is absolutely free and always a good time, so go on and check it out.
Port City Music Hall hosts Beats Antique tonight. Their music incorporates Middle Eastern grooves, Balkan wedding music, flamenco, French Gypsy jazz, hip-hop, dub reggae, and other Eastern tonalities, all pulled together with a bit of electronica. This 18+ show starts at 9pm with opening performances by Thriftworks and Erica Dee.
Uke n’ Smile is hosting another Open Mic at Sea Dog Brewing Company this Tuesday. Starting at 8 any and all musicians are welcome to play some tunes, or if you can’t actually play an instrument, you can sing with the fellas in Uke n’ Smile as they play the music for you. It’s free, fun, and yummy drinks and food are available as well so if you’re in the area tonight be sure to stop by and check things out.
