Caroline Cotter and Jes Raymond & The Blackberry Bushes at One Longfellow Square tonight

Happy Hump Day, you guys! It seems as if we’re flying right on into the freakin’ weekend. Wednesday is jam-packed with fun things to do so get ready to sport those Party Jorts all over the place as we hurdle the hump in style tonight! Check out such shindigs as Dos Canosos at Frontier, The Crown Vics in Bucksport for the Wednesday on the Main concert series, Arlo Guthrie at Jonathan’s, Eric Bettencourt at Portland Lobster Company, David Beam & Friends at Andy’s Old Port Pub, The Maine Dead Project at Portland House of Music, Motor Booty Affair in Mill Creek Park, Dave Perlman at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, and much more!


Take in some roots rock tunes during a free show at Champions tonight. Starting at 9 local musician Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of songs.


Dos Canosos will be bringing some Latin music to Frontier tonight as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge music series. Tonight’s event is free and all ages and will get underway at 7:30pm.


The Crown Vics prepare to throw down with a non-stop rockabilly dance party as part of the Wednesdays on the Main concert series in Bucksport this evening. If you’re looking to bust a move and have some fun then check out this free and family-friendly show as things get underway at 5:30pm.


Check out local musician Ron Bergeron as he plays a free and all-ages show at Pedro O’Hara’s this evening. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 7 with tons great cover songs by The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.


Legendary folk artist Arlo Guthrie will be performing at Jonathan’s in Ogunquit. The son of Woody Guthrie, Arlo is a treasured contributor to the Americana genre with his captivating storytelling, including his famous Thanksgiving anthem, Alice’s Restaurant. Tonight’s performance gets underway at 8 o’clock.


Local pop-rock musician Alex Roy is back at The Brunswick tonight with some original tunes and cover songs. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be a good time so swing through if you’re in the area as the music starts up at 7.


The Porthole hosts local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett once again this evening as he performs a set of his own original acoustic pop and funk songs as well as some fun covers. Things get started at 6 o’clock out on the deck so stop through and check it out if you’re in the area this evening.

Eric Bettencourt is back in town and tonight he’ll be joining a few pals out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company for some fun. I anticipate lots of good times and good tunes as this free show starts up at 6:30pm.

Make some plans this Wednesday evening to check out the down-home, acoustic roots sounds of David Beam and Friends as they return to Andy’s Old Port Pub for some good times tonight. This lively bunch will be playing some great music for your midweek wind down so swing through and enjoy this free and all-ages show starting at 8.

Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues with a featured performance by Alden Robinson and Neil Pearlman. Music starts at 7:30 and will be followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.

Also on tonight’s bill is Jes Raymond & The Blackberry Bushes. Raymond’s songs draw from the deep well of American roots music for a modern sound that has a light-hearted rusticity, elegance, and soul. This evening’s show begins at 8pm.

Local folk-pop act the Dapper Gents Duo return to the stage of RiRa tonight for their regular Wednesday night gig. Join these fellas for some musical revelry as this free show starts up around 9pm.

Mellow your mind with some midweek tuneage over at Portland House of Music and Events as The Maine Dead Project continues their summer residency tonight. These talented musicians will be performing songs from the Grateful Dead and other beloved jam bands as things get underway at 9pm.

Crooners & Cocktails welcomes back local duo Hello Clarice as this pair of talented fellas bring some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.


Prepare to shake your can all around this Wednesday evening as disco/funk powerhouse Motor Booty Affair returns to the gazebo in South Portland as part of the Mill Creek Park Summer Concert Series. Things get shaking around 6:30 during this free and family-friendly event.


Local musician Dave Perlman will be playing at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza tonight. Join Dave for a wide array of covers and originals from many different genres during this free acoustic show that’ll get underway at 7pm.

Bess Berg and Company bring some midweek, musical merriment to The Frog and Turtle this evening. Starting at 7:30 make some plans to stop in and enjoy an evening of jazz piano paired with bass, sax, and drums during this free all-ages event.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
