Tyler Lienhardt and Jake Hoffman will be bringing you some old-time, folk, blues and world music during this week’s installment of the Frontier’s Live in the Lounge music series. This pair of talented local musicians join forces as Red-Eyed Fox to create some delightful sounds using fiddle, banjo, and guitar. This free show will start up at 7:30pm.
Buck’s Naked BBQ in Freeport welcomes local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett this evening as he performs a set of his own original acoustic pop and funk songs. Things get started at 5 o’clock, so stop through and check it out if you’re in the area this Wednesday evening.
Local guitarist, singer and songwriter Dave Jacquet will be hosting another free Open Mic up at Cole Farms in Gray this Wednesday. Starting at 7 all musicians are welcome to join in on the fun and jam out on stage with Dave and a few of his friends, so be sure to grab your instrument of choice and let the creative energy flow!
The Working Dead are back at Portland House of Music and Events this Wednesday. This trio of talented gentlemen will be serving up some Happy Hour jams during a free show that starts at 4pm outside on the patio. Check out the act’s fun covers of the Grateful Dead and as well as other classic jam band tunes.
Oh man, if you’re looking to relive your emo/pop-punk days of yore, then I suggest you make some plans to check out tonight’s all-ages show out on the Maine State Pier as the Taste of Chaos Tour comes to town. Beginning at 4:30pm 6 you can take in tunes from Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Saosin and The Early November. All the side-swept bangs, angsty teen anthems, and tight pants your little heart could ever desire will be made yours this evening out on the Pier.
Check out some fun pop-rock tunes courtesy of local act The Grumps as they play a free show out on the patio of Bayside Bowl this evening. These talented fellas will get the good times rollin’ during this all ages event right around 5pm.
Ben Kilcollins will be hanging out at The Porthole for some acoustic singer-songwriter action this Wednesday on the deck. Ben is a skilled musician who you’ll probably recognize from his time spent pop-rockin’ with his band Kilcollins, but this evening he goes solo with some guitar-based tunes starting right around 6 o’clock.
Michael Franti & Spearhead return to Portland tonight for an evening of high-energy, funky reggae rock out at Thompson’s Point. Rising Appalachia, Chali 2na and The Funk Hunters will kick things off as the music starts right around 6.
Singer, songwriter, and guitar slinger Eric Bettencourt is back in Portland for the summer and tonight he joins some friends for some good times and goo tunes out on the Portland Lobster Company deck. This free show is guaranteed to be a lot of fun so swing through and check things out as the music starts right at 6:30.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues with a featured performance from local musicians Matt and Shannon Heaton. Their starts at 7:30pm and will be directly followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open jam that welcomes any and all musicians on stage to jam.
After the unbelievable events of this past weekend it is important for all of us to show our love and support to the LGBTQ community. I think an awesome way to do just that would be to check out some terrific tunes during tonight’s Queer Music Extravaganza at Flask Lounge in celebration of Pride Month. This event is free and will feature performances from acoustic/emo singer-songwriter Dustin Saucier, queer femme alt-country artist Julie Cira, the genderfunky folk-pop of Liam and The Bees, and the queer country sounds of The Paisley Fields. Get some pals together and spread some light and love during this free musical event as things get underway right around 8.
Wind down another Wednesday with some acoustic roots tunes courtesy of David Beam and The Custom House Gang as this local act plays a free show at Andy’s Old Port Pub in the Old Port tonight. These fellas will get the good times rolling starting at 8pm.

The fellas of the Dapper Gents Duo will be helping you properly get your folk-pop on this Wednesday as they play another free show at RiRa on Commercial Street tonight. Join this pair of talented Gents as they start playing some fun songs right around 9.
Rap Night returns to the Asylum in Portland this Wednesday to highlight some of the best local hip-hop around. Every week Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra team up to host this hip-hop heavy party that features some of the dopest emcees around. Things get fresh starting at 9 o’clock, so head downtown and check it out.
Catch some great tunes and vibes happening over at Portland House of Music as Doug Emery, Justin Maxwell, Joshua M. Robbins, Christopher Sweet, Tim Sullivan and Ryan Benoit of The Maine Dead Project continue their summer residency on stage tonight. These talented musicians will be performing songs from the Grateful Dead and more as things get underway at 9pm.
Avant-garde bassist, Nat Baldwin, who is known for his work in the Dirty Projectors as well as being a contributor to albums by Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear and more, returns to Portland tonight for a free show upstairs at Empire. Also performing tonight are Louisville-based psych-pop/rock band Murals and Portland’s own three-piece psych-folk outfit Lisa/Liza. This evening’s show starts at 9 o’clock.
Get heavy this Hump Day with some progressive metal courtesy of Ghost Ship Octavius as they bring their national tour to the stage of Geno’s tonight. Things get loud and awesome with local metal bands RUIN and Sunrunner opening the evening with sets that’ll start up around 9.
Get to South Portland tonight to party with local acts Kelly Parker and American Ride as they bust out a ton of modern country covers at Easy Day. Boot scootin’, toe tappin’ and yeehawin’ starts up at 7 during this free all ages hoedown.
The Jimmy Macisso Band returns to The Frog and Turtle tonight for a free show filled with classic cover songs that embody a real jazz feel. This evening performance starts at 7:30pm.
