Locally based musician Alex Roy will be performing a set of original and cover songs at Jimmy The Greeks in Old Orchard Beach as part of the restaurant’s Local Flavah Thursday. The evening gets underway at 8 and will feature music and select Maine brews and liquors for only $4. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be fun so swing through if you’re in the area this Thursday.
Portland’s premiere string quartet the Amarantos Quartet plays a special show this evening in Congress Square Park. This group of supremely talented string players start playing right around 6 during this free, all ages outdoor event.

The Shakes, a 7-piece funk, rock and reggae collective from Hallowell that features some of the scene’s most fun and funky players, will be performing live out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company tonight. This free all ages show starts up right around 6:30pm.
Local jazz artist Viva brings her vivacious vocals to Local Sprouts on Congress Street this Thursday evening. Check out a free party filled with funk, jazz standards, soul songs and Latin tunes that are done by Viva and her talented band, The Reinforcements, with a fun and modern twist. This show gets underway right around 7pm.
Salvage BBQ welcomes back Portland piano man Mike Maurice to their lounge-area for another Thursday evening full of funk, soul and jazz jams. Join Mike and enjoy some of his tasty tunes as well as some delicious BBQ as things get underway at 7.
Blue welcomes The Rites of Swing to their stage this evening. The band, which features musicians Tom Whitehead, Mike Arciero, Kris Day and Don Whitney, evoke the smooth, acoustic feeling of Django Reinhardt’s gypsy jazz style, with a distinctly American flavor of vocal standards from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Burlington indie folk act The DuPont Brothers are back in Portland tonight for a show at One Longfellow Square. Joining them for this show is another VT duo, Cricket Blue. It’s their first time gracing the OLS stage so show ‘em some love as this show starts up at 8 o’clock.
Local rock act OC and the Offbeats bring their brand of blues and soul to a super fun and super free show out on the Slab patio tonight. Join this energetic band of merry music-makers for a night of awesome tunes outside as things start up right around 8 o’clock.
Western Mass’ self-proclaimed apocalyptic indie pop trio And The Kids return to Portland tonight for a show at SPACE Gallery. Recently called one of the “brightest creative lights” by Pitchfork, the band will be celebrating the release of their sophomore album with some fully-charged, unrestrained energy, hook-laden tightness, and beautiful, boisterous sounds. They’ll be joined by guitar-charged Boston power trio Vundabar and the jangling cowgirl anthems of Burlington folk artist Abbie Morin as things get underway at 8:30.
Kilcollins will be pop-rockin’ all night long at RiRa on Commercial Street this thirsty Thursday. Starting at 9 o’clock these fellas will be busting out all sorts of tunes that you know and love alongside some catchy original numbers. Tonight’s show is free so be sure to check it out if you’re downtown this evening.
Alternative reggae trio The Movement will be bringing some rock and hip-hop inspired summer sounds to the stage of Port City Music Hall tonight. Local act Roots, Rhythm & Dub will kick things off tonight with a set of their own high-energy reggae and dub as this 18+ show starts at 9 o’clock.
Local electro-pop-rock act Dean Ford & The Keepsakes are back on the Oasis patio for a fun night of pop, rock and dance music. Tonight’s party is free and will feature tones of bumpin’ beats, infectious hooks, serious singalongs, screaming synths and shredding guitar so swing through as things get underway around 9 o’clock.
Blue on Congress Street in Portland welcomes back local songstress Clara Junken to perform a set of tunes tonight.
