It’s time again to make the most out of another Monday! There are a lot of cool things going on all around town and beyond tonight, so get out there and show Monday what’s what — you got this! Check out shows such as Jim The Fish at Slates, Mike Preston at Andy’s, Monday of the Minds at Flask, and more!


Tonight Slates in Hallowell welcomes Jim The Fish to the stage. The band features Bob Colwell on acoustic guitar, Dave Thibodeau on bass, and Richard “Doo” Hollis on percussion. They’ll be drawing from Bob’s extensive catalog of songs including material from The Boneheads, The Colwell Brothers, Delco Ray, and The Inspectors. The band will also be playing selections of Todd Rundgren’s seminal album “Something/Anything” to honor its 45th anniversary. Momentous Monday music begins at 8:15pm.

Get the week started with with one heck of a party at Easy Street Lounge as epic jam band Hambone brings some musical merriment to your Monday with an open jam welcome to all. Starting at 9 check out Hambone’s soulful, energetic jams and even sit and play some of your own.


Local pop-rock musician Michael Krapovicky returns to Pedro O’Hara’s to host another open mic event. Join in on the musical revelry as this all ages gathering gets underway around 6:30pm.


Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes local musician Mike Preston for some acoustic country tunes tonight. This free and all ages show gets started up right around 7.

Check out some sweet soul, R&B and blues sounds at Mothership Monday as The Youngerbloods join Andrew Bailie at Portland House of Music and Events tonight. This shindig will get shakin’ at 9.

Monday of the Minds, a showcase of some of the scene’s biggest and brightest hip hop artists, continues tonight at Flask Lounge. This free event is hosted by Stay on Mars and Smokeye as they welcome Mike Wing, Poe Mack, James EP B, Visitor 10, GVTS, Rigatony, and Murka to showcase some of their beats, bangers and bars. Things get underway right around 9 o’clock tonight during this free and fun show.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
