It’s time to get wicked festive by putting those Party Pants to extremely good use this Tuesday evening. Get after tonight at such fun shows as Big World at Blue, Open DJ Night at Flask Lounge, Viva & The Reinforcements at Crooners & Cocktails, and more.


Check out a free show at Champions tonight as roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns for a set that’ll start at 10 o’clock.


Check out local musician Ron Bergeron as he plays a free show at Fast Breaks tonight. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 6 o’clock with tons great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.


Local artist Zeile August performs a special solo set at Blue on Congress Street this evening. Beginning at 6 check out Zeile’s original psychedelic folk sounds.

Local singer-songwriter Bill Howard is back at Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening for a free event full of acoustic tunes. Bill will begin this all-ages show starting at 7 o’clock.

Big World, a new band from Portland which focuses on taking compositions from jazz and other musical genres to explore the musical form through improvisation, will be playing a show this evening at Blue. Beginning at 8 the act will be performing both original compositions as well as their interpretations of songs by such artists as Sonny Sharrock, James Brown, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and more.

Another Open Decks Night is happening at Flask Lounge tonight. Beginning at 9, you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open tables and all you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones! This event is free and always a good time so go on and check it out.

Local jazz musician Viva will be joined by her band The Reinforcements once again for an evening of jazz standards over at Crooners & Cocktails. This free show gets started up right around 9 o’clock.


Local acoustic act Uke n’ Smile is back at Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland for another free, all-ages open mic event. All genres of music, musicians of varying skills, capabilities, and ages are welcome to join in on the fun as the music starts at 8pm.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
