Monday has been quite successful in kicking my ace today, so apologies in advance for not having too much in the way of wit! Let’s dive right into it as we work together to blow these Monday blues away with shows like Pat Foley at The Porthole, Gina & The Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music, October Road at Andy’s, and more!
If you’re anywhere near the Lewiston area this Monday, drop by Pedro O’Hara’s where local pop-rocker Michael Krapovicky will be hosting another installment of his weekly acoustic Open Mic event. Tonight’s free event gets underway at 6:30 and is open to all, so grab an instrument and get ready to make some music and new friends tonight!
The Porthole welcomes local musician Pat Foley to their deck stage for some acoustic country-rock. If you’re kicking around downtown this evening be sure to stop into this free show as the music starts up at 6.
St. Lawrence Arts presents another installment of their Monday Night Jazz Series with a performance featuring Kate Campbell Strauss & Friends. The act plays jazz and blues with a soulful flair and features Kate Campbell Strauss on saxophone, Bess Berg on piano, Scott Morrison on bass, and Per Hanson on drums. This evening’s performance begins at 6:30pm.
Get after it tonight with another Funky Monday featuring Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew. The band, which is basically most of the members of Model Airplane, back up this talented songstress for some funk, soul and R&B jams that are guaranteed to please as the good times get rollin’ right around 9 at Portland House of Music and Events.
DJs OldNight, Zimbra and Doomsday J will be hosting another Primary Dance Party at Flask Lounge tonight. The trio will be spinning some post-punk, synth-pop, New Wave and more during this free dance party that’ll get ripping right around 9pm.
Port City Music Hall welcomes Boy & Bear to the stage tonight. The band is kind of like Australia’s answer to Fleet Foxes and Mumford & Sons. This 18+ show starts off with an opening set from indie pop songstress Hannah Georgas at 9 o’clock.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
