Hopefully y’all aren’t too hung over or patriotically partied out from yesterday’s festivities and are ready to do it to it this Wednesday evening. There are a ton of awesome shows happening here, there, and everywhere tonight, so if you’ve got some more party in ya, here’s where to take it this evening! Check out shows such as In This Moment, Motionless in White, Vimic & Little Miss Nasty at the State Theatre, Captain Ray and The Castaways at Portland Lobster Company, The Maine Dead Project at Portland House of Music and Events, Ron Bergeron at Pedro O’Hara’s, David Beam & Friends at Andy’s, and more!


Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Champions tonight for another free, solo set that’ll start up right around 9 o’clock this evening.


Dos Canosos will be bringing some Latin music to Frontier tonight as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge music series. Tonight’s event is free and all ages and will get underway at 7:30pm.


Check out local musician Ron Bergeron as he plays a free show at Pedro O’Hara’s tonight. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 7 with tons great cover tunes by such artists as The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.


Slab’s Summer Music Series continues tonight with a fun and free performance by local synth-pop act Forget Forget. This all-ages shindig gets swinging out on the patio starting right around 6 o’clock.

The Porthole welcomes back local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett for a set of original acoustic pop and funk songs as well as some fun covers. Things get started at 6 o’clock during this free show so make some plans to stop through if you’re downtown this evening.

Make your way down to Commercial Street tonight as Captain Ray and the Castaways will keep you dancing out on the deck of Portland Lobster Company with some fun rock and roll cover tunes. This free and all-ages party gets underway at 6:30 tonight.

Goth-rock group with metalcore roots, In This Moment will be coming to town tonight alongside Motionless in White, Vimic and Little Miss Nasty. This all-ages show starts up at the State Theatre at 7pm.

Blue’s Irish Concert Series rolls on this Wednesday evening with a featured performance by Ryan McKasson and Eric McDonald. Music starts at 7:30 and will be followed by a midweek Irish Session that is open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.

Make some plans this Wednesday evening to check out the down-home, acoustic roots sounds of David Beam and Friends as they return to Andy’s Old Port Pub for some good times tonight. This lively bunch will be playing some great music for your midweek wind down so swing through and enjoy this free and all-ages show starting at 8.

Local folk artist Dave Rowe is back at Bull Feeney’s tonight. Join Rowe for some good times and good tunes as this free show begins at 8pm.

Check out some good tunes and good vibes going down at Portland House of Music and Events tonight as The Maine Dead Project returns to the stage as part of their summer residency. These talented locals will be taking on the tunes of the Grateful Dead as this groovy gathering gets underway right around 9 o’clock.

Local folk-pop act the Dapper Gents Duo return to the stage of RiRa tonight for their regular Wednesday night gig. Join these fellas for some musical revelry as this free show starts up around 9pm.

More midweek fun will be happening at Crooners & Cocktails tonight as Hello Clarice brings some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.


Soulful roots-rock act, Chris Ross and The North will be performing as part of the Mill Creek Park Summer Concert Series in South Portland. This talented troupe of Maine-bred fellas is a must-see for fans of Zac Brown Band, John Hiatt, Jason Isbell and other such imaginative storytellers. Tonight’s free and all-ages show starts up in the gazebo at 6:30pm.


Bess Berg and Company brings some midweek, musical merriment to The Frog and Turtle this evening. Starting at 7:30 make some plans to stop in and enjoy an evening of jazz piano paired with bass, sax, and drums during this free all-ages event.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
