Sweet flippin’ Thursday! We’re making some serious strides into the freakin’ weekend and even though it’s been sort of an uphill struggle all week, I have no doubt that today is going to be a good day. There are a ton of shows going on in and around Portland for you to go out and properly do some Thursday night throwing down at, so take a quick gander and get to it by checking out shows such as Tom Gurney at Fire House Grille, Brian Patricks at Bueno Loco, Kafari at Portland House of Music, SeepeopleS’ Songwriters Circus at the Dogfish Bar & Grille, Northwood at Blue and more tonight!
Local musician Tom Gurney will be bringing the fun times and tunes to Fire House Grille tonight. Join Gurney as he gets the good times rollin’, acoustically of course, right around 7:30pm during this free, all-ages show.
Local acoustic act, Uke n’ Smile, will be hosting an Open Mic night at the Local Buzz this evening. Beginning at 7 o’clock all reasonably capable musicians are more than welcome to play some tunes or you can come and sing with the fellas in Uke n’ Smile as they play the music for you. It’s free, fun and yummy drinks and food are available as well, so if you’re in the area tonight, be sure to stop by and check it out.
Singer-songwriter Jeff Kilton will be playing a free solo acoustic show up at The Rack this Thursday. If you’re looking to wind down after a day of hitting the slopes be sure to join Jeff for some fun times and good tunes as things get underway at 7 o’clock.

Sa Rah’s Serenades continue over at Easy Street Lounge this Thursday. Grab yourself a cozy seat, a delicious cocktail, and get ready to enjoy some lovely acoustic tunes courstesy of this local songstress as this free event starts up at 9pm.
Happy Hour with Hassan aka Kafari continues at Portland House of Music and Events this evening where starting at 5 you can check out a free set of jazz and funk tunes as Hassan enthralls one and all with his immense talents on the keys. Local singer, songwriter and guitarist Jim Gallant will be performing a free show at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in downtown Portland this Tuesday evening. Don’t miss an evening of stories and song as things get underway right around 7 o’clock.
Too punk for country, too country for punk, too Memphis for Nashville, and probably a little too Cory Branan for anyone’s damn good, musician Cory Branan will be bringing his live show to the stage of One Longfellow Square tonight. Branan has proven himself as a top-notch songwriter (Chuck Ragan recently called him “the greatest songwriter of our generation”), fierce lyricist (in Lucero’s “Tears Don’t Matter Much” they sing that Cory has, “a way with words that’ll bring you to your knees”), and a super dynamic performer with the ability to fingerpick finer than ‘60s Greenwich Village folkies and brutally strum like a proto-punk shredder. Check him out for yourself as his set starts right around 8 o’clock tonight.
SeepeopleS’ Songwriters Circus returns to the Dogfish Bar & Grille tonight for in-the-round performances by members of SeepeopleS, Ghosts of Johnson City, Kalen Lister, Laura Bowman, Sea Level and more. Don’t miss the musical revelry as tonight’s free shindig gets shaking right around 8.

If you’re looking to get down to, or even play some, old-timey tunes tonight make your way over to Oxbow as Kyle and Jake of Tumbling Bones team up once again for a night of banjo, guitar, and fiddle music. This old-time jam is open to one and all so be sure to swing through and check it out as music starts right around 8.
