If you’re south of Portland tonight and looking to take in some tasty roots rock jams then make your way down to Champions Sports Bar in Biddeford where Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of tunes. Humphrey will be doing his thing starting at 10. It’s a free event with plenty of beer on hand so no excuses; check it out!
The Maine Songwriters’ Association presents the season final of their monthly series, Songwriters on Stage, tonight at Frontier in Brunswick. The event showcases some of the brightest songwriters in the state coming together to share their original compositions and stories. This month’s event features three seasoned performers alongside an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. It’s an opportunity for listeners to discover new music as well as hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. Tonight’s concert gets started at 7 and features performances by Ted DeMille, Dave Provost, Doug Kolmar, and Neil Fishman.
Maine musician Dave Jacquet resumes his role as host for this week’s free Open Mic night at Cole Farms in Gray. Starting at 7:30 any and all musicians are welcome to join in on the fun with Dave and a few of his friends live on stage this Wednesday.
Portland House of Music and Events welcomes back all you Dead Heads for an early evening of jams as The Working Dead return for another free, acoustic Happy Hour show. Starting around 4:30 this local band will be serving up great cover tunes from The Dead as well as some other jam band classics during this all-ages musical gathering.
An all-ages heavy-hitting metal show will be taking over Port City Music Hall tonight as they welcome Thy Art Is Murder to the stage alongside Rings of Saturn, Fit For An Autopsy, and Dark Sermon. Things get thundering at 6:30.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues tonight with a featured set from Open the Door for Three (Liz Knowles, Kieran O’Hare, Pat Broaders). Tonight’s ticketed show starts at 7:30 and will be followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.
Head down to Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port this evening where local duo the Squid Jiggers will be playing their own brand of folk-infused drinking tunes. The fellas get the good times rollin’ right around 8 o’clock at this free and fun show, so if you’re hanging downtown be sure to check ‘em out!
Wind down another Wednesday with some acoustic roots tunes courtesy of David Beam and The Custom House Gang as this local act plays a free show at Andy’s Old Port Pub in the Old Port tonight. These fellas will get the good times rolling starting at 8pm.
Rap Night at Asylum in Portland pops off with a proper midweek party as the present the return of Crimewave alongside special guests Stay On Mars and Peace Out Pat. Things get started at 9 with your hosts ill by instinct and El Shupacabra. Ladies get in free and it’s only a $3 admission fee for the fellas, with drink specials and late and early open mic cyphers, this is sure to be a helluva good time for any and all hip-hop heads, so swing through and check it out!
Silent Force, a local act comprised of musicians from such local bands as ShaShaSha, Micromasse, The Fogcutters, Model Airplane and more, will be bringing the funkiest sounds from Africa to the stage of Portland House of Music tonight for this week’s installment of Afrobeat Wednesday. Get down to this midweek dance party as the music starts up at 9 o’clock.
Bess Berg and Company brings the midweek musical merriment back to the stage of the Frog and Turtle tonight. Starting at 7:30pm, you can stop in and enjoy an evening of jazz piano paired with bass, sax and drums during this free, all-ages event.
Singer-songwriter Peter Alexander will be performing a free dinnertime show at Gather in Yarmouth tonight.
