Live Bullet will pay tribute to classic rock artist Bob Seger tonight with a show at Vinegar Hill Music Theatre. This talented act will be busting out all of Bob’s biggest hits as things get underway right around 8pm.
Tonight Bentley’s kicks off the long weekend with 13 Black. This local cover band will be playing the hottest dance, popular 70’s classics, 80’s pop and hair metal, 90’s alternative, and modern radio hits beginning at 8pm.
Alt-rock act Zealous Bellus returns to Gritty’s in Auburn tonight for another free and fun par-tay. Let the good times roll as this shindig gets shaking at 8.
If you’re going to be in the Central Maine area this evening make some plans to get on over to The Nocturnem Draft Haus in Bangor as they present another fine evening of jazz tunes and musical merriment with local act The Bill Barnes Trio. This free 21+ shindig gets swingin’ at 8 o’clock.
Lucie & The Undercover Band will be bringing some classic rock covers back to the stage of the Hollywood Casino tonight for a free 21+ show that starts up at 8pm.
Portland funk/rock act, Quad, which is a duo that consists of drums and cello, will be back at Elements this evening. Join the pair for an evening loaded with original material plus some selected covers and maybe even a special guest too as this show begins at 8pm.
Dance it out Mine Oyster tonight as dance/pop cover act Tickle returns to bring the house down with some of the best of today’s music mixed in with a little bit of retro funk. The party starts at 10.
Acoustic Americana act Double Entendre will be playing at the Maine House in Hallowell this evening. This talented duo will start making some savory sounds starting right around 6:30.
The Scolded Dogs return to Easy Street Lounge to do a little partying during another free show tonight. Starting at 9 you can expect to hear some awesome originals as well as cover tunes from such acts as Johnny Cash, Parliament, Snoop Dogg, and many more.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
Rippin’ rock n’ roll band Riot Act will be supplying some party tunes for your finally Friday with a show at The Brunswick. Things will get crankin’ right around 8:30.
Radio Revival returns to The OOB Pier Patio Pub tonight with tons of songs for you to groove to including covers of Queen, Billy Squier, Bowie, Tom Petty, Talking Heads, Led Zeppelin, The Strokes, Thin Lizzy, Weezer and more. This free show gets rockin’ and rollin’ at 9.
This afternoon marks the start of the first Heart, Soul & Substance Festival on House Island. This 2-Day event takes place off the coast of the Casco Bay harbor on the secluded House Island and will feature Maine food, beer, and music. Music will start each day at about 3pm and run until just before 10 with complimentary shuttle service to and from the island. Kick-off performances include sets by The Mallett Brothers Band, Skosh, Jon King, Valleyheart, Joel Thetford and Logan Burns.
Take in some roots rock tunes this finally Friday as local musician Travis James Humphrey plays a free Happy Hour set over at The Dogfish Bar & Grille. Let the good times roll as things get swinging right around 5 o’clock.
Local bluegrass duo Darlin’ Corey returns to Blue this First Friday for some super fun bluegrass jams. Starting at 6pm you can stop in and check out the pair’s delightful blend of vocal harmonies, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and guitars that are used to make up some truly unique, old timey bluegrass and folk sounds. This show is all ages and guaranteed to be a highlight of your weekend so head down to Blue to check it out.
Congress Square Park welcomes Caroline Cotter and The Swing Set to the stage for a fun, free, family-friendly, outdoor performance this evening. Caroline is an award-winning songwriter with a captivating soprano voice who’ll be joined by members of Portland’s own bluegrass band, Tricky Britches, to form the Swing Set. The act will serve up some enjoyable classical jazz and swing tunes at this event, which gets swinging (see what I did there?) right around 6 this evening.
American Ride will be busting out a bunch of modern country covers for you to boogie down to this evening as they play a free show at The Porthole beginning at 7pm.
Jam out this evening with A Band Beyond Description at Portland Lobster Company. Get your free (and all-ages) Grateful Dead freak out on starting at 7 out on the deck.
Bud Java brings some reggae to Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. This free and fun show will start up at 7pm.
Mystic Vibes, a five-piece original roots reggae band from Portland, will be bringing the good vibes to the stage of Mayo Street Arts this evening with an all ages performance that’s slated to begin at 7:30pm.
Urban Farm Fermentory will be hosting an event to benefit Portland Trails this evening. Beginning at 7:30 you can even take in sets by funk fusion act Sassquatch as well as gypsy-surf-punk-rock band Wyldlyfe. The show is $5 to get in and will benefit the trails.
NY-based soulful, blues rockin’ rollers, Wild Adriatic return to Portland tonight for an all ages show at Port City Music Hall. Things get started up at 8pm with an opening set by Connecticut’s improv/prog rock, jazz, funk, and jam band, McLovins.
Blues-rock veteran Popa Chubby brings his blistering live show, working-man politics, and fierce Hendrix covers to One Longfellow Square tonight. Things get underway at 8.
Vermont folk-rocker Kali Stoddard-Imari brings his band Ancestors in Training to the stage of Blue tonight. Stop by for some good times and good tunes as tonight’s show gets underway at 8.
It’s First Friday in Portland and Studio F on 82 Parris Street has your after-party plans covered! Tonight Portland based 10-piece indie pop act Monarck Lisa joins soul, funk, rock, Afrboeat, Latin, and hip-hop influenced band Akela Moon on stage for a night of epic jams. Things get underway at 8pm.
Fat Knuckle Freddy will be performing out on the Slab patio this Friday evening. Freddy is a local composer, instrumentalist and a songwriter who plays and writes American Primitive Music on cigar box, resonator, Weissenborn, acoustic, and fretless guitars. Check out this fun night of music as things get started up right around 8 o’clock.
Portland’s own twisted rockabilly band Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies return to Salvage BBQ with another high-energy show that fires up right around 8:30.
Local cover act The Depths will be bringing the party to the Amigos patio this evening. The band will be playing all kinds of songs from all kinds of genres during this free show, which starts up at 9.
It’s First Friday in Portland which means it’s time to bust a move down at Flask Lounge during DJ Jamie O’Sullivan’s monthly LOVE dance party. This month’s installment of LOVE features some of the best house, techno and disco music around. Properly shake your can at tonight’s free shindig as things get grooving right around 9.
Local four-piece cover act, Fighting Fiction will be providing the perfect soundtrack for your Friday night with a wide variety of material from all kinds of genres including modern pop, rock, alternative, country, classic rock and more. The band will be doing it to it with a free show starting at 9 our on the Oasis patio.
Tonight loud and local prog-rock act Dreadnaught will release their new record ‘Hard Chargin’. The album’s track are reminiscent of everything from Rush to Fugazi, Zappa, Steely Dan, Willie Nelson and all else in between. Tonight’s celebration will include an opening set by Maine-based adventuring string-benders, strummers, pickers and percussionists, Los Galactacos, who’ll be exploring an atlas of music styles and songs as well as a performance by Portland prog-rock band, Sunrunner, who promise to also bring the weird and wonderful to the stage. Tonight’s event gets underway at Portland House of Music and Events at 9pm.
Country-rock act Dalton & The Sheriffs will be playing a free show at Brian Boru tonight. Get upstairs and get your boot-scootin’ on as things get crankin’ right around 9:30pm.
Another First Friday at Blue means that local act The Evan King Group will be laying down some smooth jazz and funky soul. Grab some friends, a beverage and get ready to have some fun as things get started around 10.
Local pop-rock cover act The Nikki Hunt Band will be bringing the party back to RiRa tonight. Covering artists such as Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett, Bruce Springsteen, Sublime, No Doubt, The Doors, U2 and many more there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone. Tonight’s performance will also include a colorful hula hoop act so be sure to check it out starting at 10pm.
Tons of good vibes will be happening up at Mixers as they welcome local jam band Continental Shakedown for a night of country, blues, jazz, improve, reggae, and rock and roll. This free show gets started at 8:30pm.
Psychedelic southern rock and blues outfit the Marcus King Band will be performing at Savage Oakes Vineyard & Winery tonight. Music gets underway at 7 o’clock.
Dynamic roots/rock band based outta Boston, the Adam Ezra Group, will be returning to Maine for an early evening of high-energy musicin’ at Castonguay Square. This free and all-ages show starts up at 5:30 with opening sets from local soul-infused roots/rock act Chris Ross and The North.
If you’re spending your Friday evening in Waterville, check out singer-songwriter Ron Bergeron as he plays a free show up at the Silver Street Tavern. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 8 with tons great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and more.
The Groove Kings will be bringing some soul, funk and rhythm & blues to the stage of The Frog and Turtle in downtown Westbrook tonight. Join the fellas for some free, all-ages fun as the music starts up at 8:30pm.
