Not only are we making some serious strides towards the freakin’ weekend, but we’re also being blessed with some serious fun tonight as there’s a surplus of awesome things to do including Fleet Foxes with (Sandy) Alex G, Double Entendre at The Linekin Bay Resort, Travis James Humphrey at Alisson’s, The Whiskey Militia at Bates College Quad, Jonathan Edwards at Jonathan’s, Jay Bragg at Portland Lobster Company, Davis Bradley at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Welterweight at Blue, O-Town & Ryan Cabrera with Dean Ford & The Keepsakes at Aura, The Paul Houston Project at Oasis, Eric Bettencourt at Blue, and much more. So go ahead and get your Thursday on, babies!


You can join local duo Phil N’ The Blanks at Gritty’s in Auburn tonight for a free show featuring some blues, classic rock, country, R&B and modern pop cover tunes as things get started up at 8 o’clock tonight.


Psychedelic dance rock band, Fan Jones will be bringing the party to Pickering Square in downtown Bangor this evening. This free and all-ages show gets swinging at 6pm.

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys are bringing their From Boston To Berkeley Tour to Bangor tonight. Tickets are still available for this all-ages show that’ll also feature performance by Bouncing Souls and Jake Burns of Stiff Little Fingers. Music starts up at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion at 6pm.


The Linekin Bay Resort in Boothbay Harbor welcomes acoustic Americana act Double Entendre this evening. This talented duo will start making some sweet sounds starting right around 5pm.


Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile will be hosting another open mic event over at The Local Buzz. All musicians of varying skills and genres are welcome to get up on the microphone and perform as things get underway right around 7:30pm.


Local musician Steve Jones and a few of his friends will be making some joyful noise at The Liberal Cup this evening. Jones and company will be performing a blend of rockabilly, country, old-time rock and roll, Americana, roots and more starting at 8 o’clock.


Take in some roots rock tunes during a free show at Alisson’s in Kennebunk tonight. Starting at 10 local musician Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of songs.


Check out some modern country covers from local act Whiskey Militia as they bring the party to the Bates College Quad in Lewiston this evening. These fellas will be rocking you with songs artists like Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Josh Thompson, Jake Owen and more as this free and all-ages shindig gets shaking at 6:30pm.

Check out local musician Ron Bergeron as he plays a free show at the Sea40 in Lewiston tonight. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 7 with tons great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.


Toby McAllister of local pop-rock band Sparks The Rescue will be performing a solo, acoustic set at Captain Jack’s in Naples tonight. Starting at 7pm Toby will be performing some of his favorite STR originals as well as some covers of popular tunes from the past 20 plus years.


Legendary singer and songwriter Jonathan Edwards will be live on the stage of Jonathan’s in Ogunquit this evening. Starting at 8 o’clock the musician will be playing his beloved blend of country and folk-rock. Anticipate some singalong moments during Edwards’ songs “Sunshine” and “Shanty”.


Local party band The GE3ks are bringing some of the best 80’s pop, dance, New Wave, hard rock, rap and one hit wonder tunes to The Pier Patio Pub tonight. Shake your groove thing out on the dance floor as this free show gets swinging at 9.


Blue welcomes The Speedbumps to the stage this Thursday evening. The Speedbumps are an award-winning American band with a warm, authentic sound, built on a passion for hollow-bodied instruments, indie-folk and indie-rock influences. See them tonight as the music begins at 5pm.

Local four-piece rock n’ roll band, Riot Act will go quiet tonight for an acoustic set at The Porthole. Tonight’s free show gets started out on the deck right around 6 o’clock.

Tonight Jay Bragg (who many of you know as half of the country duo, North of Nashville) will be joined by a few friends for a mighty fine evening of music out on the Portland Lobster Company deck. String plucking, foot-stomping and soul-singing will get underway during this free and all-ages show right around 6:30pm.

Check out the smart, pop-infused Americana and folk sounds of local act Welterweight at Blue this evening. The band will be coming together on stage in this unique and intimate venue right around 7pm so make some plans to stop in and check them out.

Acclaimed indie band, Fleet Foxes will be bringing their earthy, harmony-rich sound that reflects influences of American country-rock and British folk-rock to the stage at Thompson’s Point tonight. This evening’s outdoor and all-ages event will get started at 7pm with an opening set by lo-fi pop singer-songwriter, (Sandy) Alex G.

Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes bluegrass act, Davis Bradley. The innovative duo draws from their individual bluegrass, old time, and swing influences, to create something all their own, while remaining true to the roots of the music they love. You can see them perform live during this free and family-friendly event beginning at 7pm.

Spice things up tonight with another free, outdoor performance by Primo Cubano as Slab’s Summer Music Series continues. Starting at 7, dance the evening away to some of the best classic Cuban music around.

Take it back to the year 2000 tonight as teen boy band O-Town and pop star Ryan Cabrera join forces for a night of guaranteed nostalgia at Aura in Portland. Local electro-pop-rock act Dean Ford & The Keepsakes will kick things off as this all ages show gets started at 8 o’clock.

Amy Black brings her Memphis Music Revue to the stage of One Longfellow Square this evening. Join this acclaimed musician and her band for an evening of soulful American roots music as things start up at 8 o’clock.

Alt-country, Southern rock n’ rollers, the Drive-By Truckers return to Portland for another show at Port City Music Hall tonight. The act will be lighting up the stage alongside Seratones, who’ll open the night with their revved-up fusion of vintage soul and raunchy garage rock. Tonight’s 18+ show starts at 8pm.

Acoustic rock, blues, and jazz band, The Paul Houston Project will be bringing the party to the Oasis patio tonight. Things get underway at 9pm during this free show.

Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins are back at RiRa tonight for some sweet, acoustic sounds. You know Ben from his time spent fronting local pop-rock act, Kilcollins, but this evening he teams up with the talented Vargas Twins for some fun cover tunes and original songs starting right around 9.

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen the talented Eric Bettencourt singing his ass off and picking some guitar strings like it ain’t nobody’s business. Well good news, friends, Betts in back in town for a hot minute this summer and he’s ready to have some fun at Blue tonight. Don’t’ miss your chance to see Eric in full force during a performance that’ll start up right around 9.

Mellow your mind with some stellar jams at Gritty’s during another fun night with the one and only A Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these fellas jam out on everything from Phish, the Allman Brothers, The Band and more. Anticipate good times, good tunes and good people starting right around 9.


Singer-songwriter Freddy Dame Jr. will be performing at Bebe’s Burritos and Cantina in Saco this evening. Join Dame as this free show starts up at 6pm.


The summer concerts in the park series continues in Scarborough over at Memorial Park as cover act Wavelength brings some fun to your Thursday evening. From light jazz, Motown, country, and classic rock to today’s hits, the band is bound to have something for everyone as this free and family-friendly show starts up at 6:30pm.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
