I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that it’s Monday again. If you’re in as much denial about this as I am, here are some cool happenings to check out that’ll make it seem as if the weekend’s been extended right on through Monday night. Tons of tunes to see including Blue Steel Express at Portland Lobster Company, Songwriters Night featuring Lisa Redfern, Ted DeMille & Chris Moore at Slates, Mothership Mondays with Andrew Bailie & Friends at Portland House of Music and Events, Easy River at Andy’s, and more!


Slates in Hallowell presents Songwriters Night featuring Lisa Redfern, Ted DeMille and Chris Moore. Lisa Redfern known as a singer-songwriter who blends her roots in folk, bluegrass, country, gospel, blues, and swing to create something unmistakably her own. Ted DeMille is a singer-songwriter known for his deceptively simple songs in the roots music genres. Drawing from time tested folk themes and melodies, the ancient tones and tales of bluegrass, and the contemporary narrative of Americana, Chris Moore has composed, performed, and recorded music for dance, film, television, spoken word, theater, and visual art projects. This evening’s performance will begin at 8pm.

Get the week started at Easy Street Lounge as local jam band Hambone brings some musical merriment to your Monday with an open jam session that’s open to all. Starting at 9 check out Hambone’s soulful, energetic jams and even sit and play some tunes of your own during this free and fun event.


If you’re anywhere near the Lewiston area this Monday, drop by Pedro O’Hara’s where local pop-rocker Michael Krapovicky will be hosting another installment of his weekly acoustic open mic event. Tonight’s free event gets underway at 6:30 and is open to all, so grab an instrument and get ready to make some music and new friends tonight!


Blue Steel Express brings their unique brand of blues, from full-bore electric house-rockin’ to low-down acoustic simmer, to the Portland Lobster Company deck tonight. The good times get rollin’ during this free and all-ages show at 6 o’clock.

Check out some bluegrass and folk tunes over at Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight as they welcome Easy River to the stage. The band will be bringing some boot-stomping tunes to your Monday during this free and all-ages show that’ll start up at 7.

See Monday off with an awesome noise-infused rock and roll show over at Mathew’s. Earthworm Von Doom will be bringing the noise rock and doom alongside the improvised rock and/or roll and free jazz of Forget The Times, the ethereal drone rock of Cop Funeral as well as local support by and Id M Theft Able and Sterile Garden. Things get underway at 8 o’clock.

Mothership Mondays with Andrew Bailie & Crew continue tonight at Portland House of Music and Events. Get down with Bailie and friends as they funk up your Monday with some super fun jams starting at 9pm.

Put on your dancing (party) pants and join the Primary Dance Party at Flask Lounge tonight as DJs Zimbra, DoomsdayJ, and Foxy spin The Smiths, Morrissey, and associated post-punk bands during a free party that starts up at 9 o’clock.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
