Check out a free rock n’ roll show at Gritty’s in Auburn tonight with local act Tilden Katz. These fellas will be getting the party started with all kinds of fun covers beginning at 8pm.

Local cover act The Depths will be at the Fire House Grill this evening. The band will be playing all kinds of songs from all kinds of genres during this free show, which starts up at 8.


This evening the John Nowak Quartet will be performing some jazz favorites during a free show at Hollywood Casino. Things get swinging right around 8.

No Warning will be serving up all of your favorite party tunes tonight as they kick off a two night stint at the Penobscot Pour House at 9 o’clock.


Tonight you can enjoy the acoustic, classic guitar stylings of Pat Sylvia during a free and all-ages show happening at Elements. Music begins at 8.


Lucie & The Undercover Band will be bringing some classic rock covers to Brewer’s Eagles Club tonight for a free 21+ show that starts up at 8pm.


Singer-songwriter Lee Sykes brings his rich, soulful voice to The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro tonight for some acoustic tunes played on his trusty guitar. Enjoy both originals and covers as this free show starts up at 7.


Skip’s Lounge in Buxton welcomes local cover act Illusion to the stage tonight. Starting at 9, expect some high energy rock and roll with covers from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today, with a little country mixed in.


Nick Racioppi of local rock-reggae act A Mighty Lion goes solo tonight for a free show happening at the Gritty’s in Freeport. Join Nick as the music starts right around 8.


The School Street Pub in Gorham welcomes Ron Bergeron for a night of tunes. Ron will be serving up tons of great songs starting at 8:30 including covers of The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and maybe even a little Lady Gaga. If you’re in the area be sure to stop by and check out some good food and good tunes during this free and fun show.


Soul, funk and jazz act Boogie Mob will be doing it up at Easy Street Lounge in Hallowell this Friday evening. Join in on the fun as tonight’s dance party gets shaking at 9.

Check out another free and fun show at The Kennebec Wharf as The Boneheads return to the stage. This local act will liven up your Friday night with fun Americana and roots sounds starting at 9 o’clock.


Local musician Dave Perlman will be performing at Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston this evening. Join Dave for a wide array of covers and originals from many different genres during this free, all-ages acoustic show that’ll get underway at 8pm.

Muddy Ruckus will be easing you into the freakin’ weekend with a free show at Guthries tonight. This gypsy blues-folk act will kick things off right around 8pm.


Radio Revival returns to The OOB Pier tonight with tons of songs for you to groove to including covers of Queen, Billy Squier, Bowie, Tom Petty, Talking Heads, Led Zeppelin, The Strokes, Thin Lizzy, Weezer and more. This free show gets rockin’ and rollin’ at 9.


Over at Portland Lobster Company you can join Vinyl Tap out on the deck as they play all kinds of classic jams during a free and all ages show. Vinyl Tap is known for making people bust a move to their wide array of danceable cover tunes that span between everything from everything The Beatles to Huey Lewis, Cee Lo Green, Stevie Wonder, The Dead and many, many more. There’s never a cover charge so check it out starting at 6 tonight.

Shanna Underwood and Wanderlost will be bringing some Americana music to the stage of Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening. Starting at 7, Underwood joins forces with Brian Durkin and Devon Colellafor some stellar musical sounds this finally Friday.

Rexy Dinosaur returns with saxophone in claws to the Dogfish Bar & Grille tonight. Rexy will be joined by Tom Douglas on guitar and Geoff Williams on percussion as the trio bring you a mix of blues, hip hop and jazz beginning at 8 o’clock.

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen the talented Eric Bettencourt singing his ass off and picking some guitar strings like it ain’t nobody’s business at a venue here in Portland since Eric made the move to Austin, Texas to get truly weird. Tonight this Maine native makes a triumphant return to the stage of One Longfellow Square in Portland with a ton of new tunes from. Eric will be joined by Ben Balmer for an awesome and intimate performance that is slated to get underway at 8.

Hybrid tribute/fusion act Pink Talking Fish takes the music from three of the world’s most beloved bands, Pink Floyd, The Talking Heads, and Phish, and creates a special treat for fans of those particular acts. Check out the party at Portland House of Music and Events tonight as this show starts up at 9.

1964: The Tribute, a band focused on the early years of the Fab Four, will be performing at Aura tonight. Beatlemania begins at 9pm.

No Diggity is back at Empire tonight. This ‘90s dance party fronted by Portland’s very own diva and siren, Kenya Hall will be pouring through your favorite pop, R&B and hip-hop songs of the decade with her all-star band!  Also joining No Diggity tonight are DJ Jay Caron and DJ Rew.  No Diggity nights are always filled to capacity, so make sure you get to Empire right at 9 and get ready to boogie!

Country-rock act Dalton & The Sheriffs will be playing a free show at Brian Boru tonight. Get upstairs and get your boot-scootin’ on as things get crankin’ right around 9:30pm.

Cover band Sweep The Leg brings the party back to the stage of RiRa tonight. Starting at 10 get ready to bust a move to some super fun rock, blues, ska and funk jams.

Treat yourself to some sultry salsa tunes  with a bit of a punk edge over at Blue tonight as salsacore act El Malo hits the stage starting at 10.


Local alt-country rockers, The Mallett Brothers Band are geared up for a two-night stint up at Moose Alley in Rangeley as they help this very awesome venue celebrate its 6th anniversary! Boot stompin’, whiskey drinkin’, and guitar slingin’ will get underway right around 8:30 during this celebratory shindig.


Check out female-fronted cover band HoneyPot as they play all your favorite jams from 80s rock to modern hip-hop during a free show at Mixers in Sabattus. Bust a move and have some fun as things get cranking at 8:30pm.


Take in some modern country covers and original tunes tonight as The Kerrymen Pub welcomes Joan Kennedy and a couple of her musically inclined friends to the stage for another free show that’ll get swinging at 7:30.


Laugh, dance and sing your pants off with Seth Holbrook and Jim Ciampi of Keys To The City 2 Go as they present a Dueling Piano Show at Willows Pizza & Restaurant in South Portland starting at 8 o’clock tonight.


Get ready to have your face melted off and your ears blown out by The Spillers, The Stops, DiNOLA, Diamond Edge Band, Civil Disturbance, not30 and Slow Coyote tonight as things get really loud and really awesome during this free rock show over at Live at 212. Music starts at 6.

The Potato Pickers return to Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza tonight with some fun bluegrass sounds during a free and all-ages show that starts at 7 o’clock.

Portland’s own twisted rockabilly and rollers Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies return to The Frog and Turtle with another high-energy show that fires up right around 8:30.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
