Sarah Horton brings an evening of folk, rock, blues and Americana songs to Elements in Biddeford this evening. This free and all ages show will start up at 8pm.


North of Nashville will be rocking The Rack tonight as they kick-off a two night stint on stage tonight starting at 9. Western Maine’s electric-Americana style duo, Turner Templeton will be turning things up right around 9 o’clock at the Widowmaker Lounge at Sugarloaf tonight.


Singer-songwriter Kate Schrock will be performing alongside artist Aban Zirikly on violin and piano, and Tubalele, a tuba and ukulele group, during a show tonight at the Falmouth Congregational Church. This evening’s all ages event will begin at 7pm.

Check out another free and fun First Friday show happening at The Dogfish Bar & Grille as Americana/roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns for some Happy Hour tuneage. Travis’ all-ages performance begins at 5 o’clock this finally Friday.

Local bluegrass duo Darlin’ Corey will be performing at Blue tonight. Starting at 6 you can stop in and check out the pair’s delightful blend of vocal harmonies, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and guitars that are used to make up some truly unique bluegrass, old timey and folk sounds. This show is all ages and guaranteed to highlight some great music so be sure to make some plans to check it out.

Folk-rock cover act Rippleton Cross will be performing an acoustic set at Andy’s Old Port Pub. This free, all-ages show will feature the pair performing renditions of songs by such artists as The Who, Joe Jackson, Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens and many more as things get started right around 7pm.

It’s First Friday in Portland and tonight you can experience a super fun dance party hosted by One Longfellow Square featuring the Maine Marimba Ensemble and Collective Motion. Maine Marimba is a unique percussion band that plays, you guessed it, marimbas! The music they play is based on traditional Zimbabwean music from the Shona culture and incorporates great rhythms, and inspires foot-tapping, hip-swaying and dancing. Tonight the talented dancers of Collective Motion will be joining them to get the dance going, so there’s no excuse not to get on the dance floor as things start up at 7 o’clock.

Phish cover act Pardon Me, Doug is ready to bring some musical merriment back to Oxbow tonight as they play two sets of their renditions of Phish classics starting up at 7:30pm.

If you’re Art Walkin’ in Portland tonight make plans to swing through Blue to check out a show filled with contemporary Middle Eastern music as Zapion performs beginning at 8pm.

Locally based and exceptionally skilled (as well as fun) piano man Mike Maurice returns to MJ’s Wine Bar to tickle the ivories during a free show featuring his funk, soul and jazz sounds. Treat yourself to some tasty tunes as well as a stellar vino selection as get started around 8pm tonight.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
