There’s a plethora of parties to choose from tonight so get out there and do your thing this Wednesday evening! The Allison Ames Band will be bringing some irresistible dance tunes to the lawn of the Bangor Public Library tonight as they serve up some fun classic rock covers beginning 7pm.
If you’re south of Portland tonight and looking to take in some roots rock jams then make your way down to Champions Sports Bar in Biddeford where Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of tunes. Humphrey will be doing his thing starting at 9pm. It’s a free event so no excuses; check it out!
Frontier’s Live in the Lounge music series continues tonight with a performance by String Tide. String Tide is an all-male folk quartet specializing in harmonies and bluegrass covers of old time, folk, Americana, and pop tunes. Fiddle, banjo, octave mandolin, guitar, and bass swell with energy and vibrancy as they prepare to pull you out of your seat to dance starting at 7:30 during this free and all ages show.
The Wednesdays on Main music series continues in Bucksport this evening with some bluegrass tunes courtesy of Blue Northern. This free and family-friendly event will get underway at 5:30pm.
Local musician Ron Bergeron will be playing another free show at the Pedro O’Hara’s tonight. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 7 o’clock with tons great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.
Granger Smith (and his good ol’ boy alter ego Earl Dibbles Jr.) will be performing live at Simard Payne Park in Lewiston tonight. Smith rocketed to the top of the country music world last year with two top ten hits, and with over 2.5 million Facebook fans, Granger Smith has quickly becoming one of the biggest stars in country music. Tonight 99.9 The Wolf welcomes him to Lewiston for one of the biggest concerts of the summer. Things get underway at 7pm during this all-ages event and will feature opening performances by local country musician Joe Gallant and national country recording artist, Ryan Hurd. There will also be food trucks and beer on-site as well as tickets to purchase for any of y’all that wanna walk up, so if you’re lookin’ to do a little yeehawin’ tonight, stop on through.
The Porthole welcomes back local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett this evening as he performs a set of his own original acoustic pop and funk songs as well as some fun covers. Things get started at 6 o’clock so stop through and check it out if you’re downtown this evening.
Eric Bettencourt is back in town and tonight he’ll be joining a few pals out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company for some fun. I anticipate lots of good times and good tunes as this free show starts up at 6:30pm.
Pop-tinged Americana duo Copilot will be flying into town for another show over at Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Join the pair for some fun tunes during this free, all-ages show as the music starts at 7 o’clock.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series rolls on this Wednesday evening with a featured performance by Brenda Castles & Friends. Music starts at 7:30 and will be followed by a midweek Irish Session that is open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.
Maine-based folk musician Dave Rowe is back at Bull Feeney’s tonight. Join Rowe for some good times and good tunes as this free show begins at 8pm.
Mellow your mind with some midweek music over at Portland House of Music and Events as The Maine Dead Project returns to the stage as part of their summer residency tonight. These talented musicians will be performing songs from the Grateful Dead and other beloved jam bands as things get underway at 9pm.
Folk-pop-rock act the Dapper Gents Duo returns to RiRa for some good times and good tunes tonight. This free party gets started at 9 o’clock.
More midweek fun will be happening at Crooners & Cocktails tonight as Hello Claricebrings some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.
Party out in Mill Creek Park in South Portland this evening as The Substitutes bring you the best in old school pop and rock with tunes from such legendary bands asThe Beatles, The Who, The Monkees and more. Even better, this evening’s show is absolutely free and family-friendly so if you’re looking to have some midweek fun with some good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll, swing on by and check ‘em out beginning at 6:30.
Local country act Never Been To Tennessee will be singing some songs at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza tonight. Starting at 7 Scott Girouard and Kevin Ward will be serving up classic country covers from such artists as Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and a whole lot more during this free, all ages show.
Local adult-contemporary folk rock artist Don Campbell returns to The Frog and Turtle tonight for a free, all-ages show that will start at 7:30pm.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
