I am quite certain that I’ve had my sights set on Friday since, no joke, Sunday night, so I am quite enjoying this finally Friday feeling I’ve got going on. If you guys are all as ready as I am to make the most out of this freakin’ weekend, then here are some awesome events to kick things off this evening. Check out a free rock n’ roll show at Gritty’s in Auburn tonight with local act Tilden Katz. These fellas will be getting the party started with all kinds of fun covers beginning at 8pm.
Alt-rock act Zealous Bellus returns to the Fire House Grill in Auburn tonight for another free and fun par-tay. Let the good times roll as this shindig gets shaking at 9.
Acoustic Americana act Double Entendre will be playing a set at Hollywood Casino in Bangor this evening. This talented duo will start making some savory sounds starting right around 8pm.
Prepare to party at the Penobscot Pour House tonight as they welcome back Shyboy to perform a wide variety of rock hits from the 60’s through today. The music starts up at 9 o’clock.
There’s going to be one helluva party happening at Three Tides & Marshall Wharf tonight as excellent and electrifying rock and roll band, When Particles Collide bring some Friday night thunder to the venue. Swing through and enjoy some high-energy RnR as this evening’s show gets shaking at 9pm.
Local alternative folk act Northwood will be at Elements on Main Street tonight for some foot-stomping good times. Northwood starts making some noise right around 8 o’clock during this free and family-friendly show, so make some plans to check ‘em out if you’re in the area tonight.
Zeme Libre will be bringing the good times up to Boothbay Harbor tonight with a high-energy set filled with Afro-fusion, hard-tinged reggae, and ska sounds. Tonight’s free show happens at Mine Oyster gets start up right around 9:30pm.
Lucie & The Undercover Band will be bringing some classic rock covers to Ramona’s in Bucksport tonight for a free 21+ show that starts up at 9pm.
Sparks The Rescue front man Alex Roy goes solo and acoustic tonight for a show at the School Street Pub and Grill in Gorham. Beginning at 7 you can stop through and check out some of Roy’s pop-rock jams as he plays a free set of songs this evening.
Check out some funkadelic sounds courtesy of Hambone as the band prepares to play a free show at the Easy Street Lounge tonight. Lots of rock and funk jams to help ease you on in to the freakin’ weekend as things get underway at 9 o’clock.
Check out another free and fun show at The Kennebec Wharf as The Boneheads return to the stage. This local act will liven up your Friday night with fun Americana and roots sounds starting at 9 o’clock.
Pedro O’Hara’s welcomes back Maine-based, acoustic alternative artist John Hasnip this evening. Starting around 8 John will be playing some fun tunes for you to bust a move or two to this Friday.
Tons of good vibes will be happening up at The Crooked Hook in Mechanic Falls tonight as they welcome local jam band Continental Shakedown for a night of country, blues, jazz, improve, reggae, and rock and roll. This free show gets started at 7:30.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
Dance it out down at The Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach as dance/pop cover act Tickle gets ready to bring the house down with some of the best of today’s music mixed in with a little bit of retro funk. The party starts at 8:30 tonight.
Radio Revival returns to The OOB Pier tonight with tons of songs for you to groove to including covers of Queen, Billy Squier, Bowie, Tom Petty, Talking Heads, Led Zeppelin, The Strokes, Thin Lizzy, Weezer and more. This free show gets rockin’ and rollin’ at 9.
Fat Knuckle Freddy is back at Blue this Friday evening. Freddy is a local composer, instrumentalist and a songwriter who plays and writes American Primitive Music on cigar box, resonator, Weissenborn, acoustic, and fretless guitars. Check out this fun night of music as things get started up right around 6 o’clock.
Over at The Porthole you can join Vinyl Tap out on the deck as they play all kinds of classic jams during a free show. Vinyl Tap is known for making people bust a move to their wide array of danceable cover tunes that span between everything from everything The Beatles to Huey Lewis, Cee Lo Green, Stevie Wonder, The Dead and many, many more. There’s never a cover charge so check it out starting at 6 tonight.
Roots-rockers the Jason Spooner Band will be providing the soundtrack to your Friday evening as they play a free and family-friendly set out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company tonight. Join these fun fellas for some fine Americana sounds as things get swinging at 6:30pm.
Pop singer-songwriter Lew Phillips will be bringing his retro songs to Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Phillips draws inspiration from the pop sounds and sensibilities of the early 60’s for a throwback feel that is guaranteed to please this Friday evening. This free and all-ages event gets started at 7pm.
Singer-songwriter David Wilcox brings his unique guitar style that blends soft jazz and folk together, along with his warm, baritone vocal tone and poetic lyricism to One Longfellow Square this evening. Tonight’s performance gets underway at 8pm.
Local musician Rexy Dinosaur returns with saxophone in claws to the Dogfish Bar & Grille tonight. Rexy will be joined by Tom Douglas on guitar and Geoff Williams on percussion as the trio bring you a mix of blues, hip hop and jazz beginning at 8 o’clock.
Indie rock act, Foster The People will be bringing their brand of dance pop to the stage of the State Theatre tonight for an all ages show that’ll start up at 8 with opener Miya Folick.
Check out some stellar sounds courtesy of local artist Kafari as he plays a fun show at Blue tonight. Check out the multifarious jazz and funk sounds Kafari creates on his keyboard as this event starts up at 8pm.
Local fellas Sylvain’s Acadian Aces are back at Salvage BBQ on Congress Street this finally Friday. Beginning at 8:30 these talented gents will be serving up some authentic Cajun tunes for you to dance around to.
Intuitive folk-based singer-songwriter Diane Cluck will be at SPACE Gallery this evening. Her vocal style has been described as “an unlikely mix of Aaron Neville, the Baka people, and Joni Mitchell…unaffected yet unusual.”Rounding out this evening’s bill are local left-field folk acts Snaex and Plains. This all ages performance begins at 8:30 tonight.
Andi Fawcett and the fellas of Doubting Gravity will be bringing you some original pop rock as they play a free show at Brian Boru tonight. Starting at 9 fill your finally Friday with some good times and good tunes at this free, 21+ dance party!
Local cover act The Depths will be bringing the party to the Amigos patio this evening. The band will be playing all kinds of songs from all kinds of genres during this free show, which starts up at 9.
Don’t snooze on a super fun show happening upstairs at Empire tonight with electro-rock act, The Cyborg Trio. Get weird and wild as things get underway right around 9.
Portsmouth’s funk-hop outfit Harsh Armadillo will be bringing the party to the stage of Portland House of Music and Events tonight. This Seacoast area act is ready to get on down so bust out your finest pair of Party Pants and prepare to shake what you’ve got out on the dance floor as things start up at 9 with an opening set chock full of soul from smalltalker.
The Jameson Four will be rockin’ RiRa tonight. This local act will be bringing you all kinds of fun covers spanning a few decades starting at 10pm.
Shake it to some sultry salsa tunes with a bit of a punk edge as Blue welcomes back local salsacore act El Malo to the stage starting at 10 tonight.
Mixers in Sabattus presents cover band Vyntyge Skynyrd tonight. This classic rock experience will transport concertgoers back to the 1970’s with classic anthems from Lynyrd Skynyrd starting at 8:30pm.
Local pop-rock cover act The Nikki Hunt Band will be bringing the party to the Wolves Club in Sanford tonight. Covering artists such as Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett, Bruce Springsteen, Sublime, No Doubt, The Doors, U2 and many more there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone. Tonight’s performance will also include a colorful hula hoop act so be sure to check it out starting at 8pm.
Mike Preston & The Buckstop Band will be joined by special guest Kim Curry for some fun country & western tunes at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza. Join in on the fun as this free, all ages show will get swinging at 7 tonight.
Portland’s own twisted rockabilly and rollers Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies return to The Frog and Turtle with another high-energy show that fires up right around 8:30.
Check out local musician Ron Bergeron as he plays a free show at Gilbert’s Chowder House in Windham tonight. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 6 o’clock with tons great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
