Check out Kate Campbell Strauss & Friends at St. Lawrence Arts tonight

I don’t think I’m entirely ready for another Monday, but regardless of how prepared I am or not, here it is. Thankfully there are some cool things to take in to help you manage any despair associated with the start of another working week. Here are the haps for this evening including The Longfellows at Portland House of Music, Reverend Hylton at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Primary Dance Party at Flask Lounge and more!

Local pop-rock singer-songwriter Michael Krapovicky returns to host another Open Mic at Pedro O’Hara’s. Starting right around 6:30pm all musicians are welcome to sign-up and perform some tunes in front of an audience of peers and music-lovers alike.

Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes Georgia-based singer-songwriter Reverend Hylton this Monday evening. Hylton brings his Americana songs about his own life and things he has experienced from heartbreak, addiction, partying, traveling and having a good time. See him tonight as this free show starts up at 7 o’clock.

St. Lawrence Arts presents their new Monday Night Jazz Series with a performance featuring Kate Campbell Strauss & Friends. The act plays jazz and blues with a soulful flair and features Kate Campbell Strauss on saxophone, Bess Berg on piano, Scott Morrison on bass, and Per Hanson on drums. This evening’s performance begins at 7pm.

Otto’s lower Congress Street location will be the place to be for some fine bluegrass and delicious pizza. Local bluegrass picker Joe Walsh will be joined by Lincoln Meyers, Steve Roy, and Lukas Pool for a Monday evening chock full of musical merriment. Tap your toes and have some fun as this free show starts up at 8:30pm.

Another funky Monday will be happening down at Portland House of Music as The Longfellows return for some serious fun tonight. The band, which is a collection of some of Portland’s funkiest players including members of Model Airplane, Jaw Gems, The Fogcutters, Micromasse Connor Garvey Band, and more, will be bringing the fun and funk as things get kickin’ right around 9.

DJs OldNight, Zimbra and Doomsday J will be hosting another Primary Dance Party at Flask Lounge tonight. The trio will be spinning some post-punk, synth-pop, New Wave and more during this free dance party that’ll get ripping right around 9pm.

If you’re looking for some Open Mic action in Southern Maine, you can check the Kerrymen Pub in Saco where beginning at 7:30 full bands and solo acts are encouraged to take to the stage and showcase their musical abilities at this free and fun event.
