Maine-based party band The GE3ks will be bringing the good times to Bentley’s tonight. Starting at 8 get ready to bust a move to some of the best 80’s pop, dance, New Wave, hard rock, rap and one hit wonder tunes around.


Local hard-hitting, heavy rock bands Sygnal To Noise, Devils Nite Out, and Break The Skin will be teaming up with out-of-state hard rockers Deathcode, Modern Day Outlaw, Threatpoint, and Shadowplay to bring thunder to your finally Friday with a show at Sapphire in Auburn. Things get cranking early so make sure you’re right on time at 5 o’clock this evening.

Tons of good vibes will be happening up at the Fire House Grill as they welcome local jam band Continental Shakedown for a night of country, blues, jazz, improve, reggae, and rock and roll. This free show gets started at 8pm.


Get your boot scootin’ on with country act the Kayla Wass Trio as they return to the stage of the Hollywood Casino in Bangor tonight for a free show that’ll get kickin’ right around 8 o’clock.

Central Maine rock cover band Dakota will be bringing the thunder to the stage of the Penobscot Pour House as they play songs from such acts as Bon Jovi, Shinedown, Bush, Aerosmith, Journey, Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, and more beginning at 9pm.


Los Lobos brings their blend of rock, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, and traditional Spanish and Mexican music to the stage of the Criterion Theatre in Bar Harbor this evening. Local psychedelic folk rock artist Dominic Lavoie and his band will start off the evening with a set that’ll begin at 8.


A fine night filled with alternative country tunes is to be expected this evening at The Crosby Center in Belfast. Beginning at 7pm you can check out sets of original songs by The Midnight Riders, The Coloradas and Dylan Earl.

Lucie & The Undercover Band will be bringing some classic rock covers to the stage of Bowen’s in Belfast tonight for a free 21+ show that starts up at 9pm.


Matthew Sweet, a leading figure of the 1990s power pop revival, with all the raging guitars and aching melodies of past masters like The Beatles and Big Star, will be performing at the beautiful Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield tonight. Music begins at 8pm.


Portland singer-songwriter Sorcha Cribben-Merrill and singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and finger-style guitar player Zak Trojano will be performing at Frontier tonight. Expect lots stirring, original folk, blues, and soul compositions as tonight’s show gets started up at 8pm.


Local band JD Gilbert & The Night Train will be bringing some toe-tappin’ country tunes to Skip’s Lounge this finally Friday. This free party gets rockin’ and rollin’ right around 9pm.


Welcome the freakin’ weekend with a party at Chummies tonight as Maine jam band Merther brings some musical merriment to the stage. Starting at 9 o’clock you can check out some soulful, energetic jams from this fun, local act.


Local musician Ron Bergeron will be playing a free show at Gritty’s in Freeport tonight. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 8 o’clock with tons great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.


Singer-songwriter Freddy Dame will be performing the School Street Pub and Grill in Gorham this evening. Join Dame as this free show starts up at 9pm.


If you find yourself up in the Hallowell area this evening be sure to stop by Easy Street Lounge as The Whitefields start rocking right around 9. Best described as a folk, funk and rock venture, this band is known for its strong vocal harmonies. Expect a wide range of styles and fun as things get underway tonight.

Local act Alter Igor returns to rock out at The Kennebec Wharf tonight with their party-starting classic rock tunes. The band will be playing everything from Nick Lowe to The Who and many, many more iconic rock n’ rollers as they get things underway inside at 9.


Keys player and vocalist Josh Hatfield will be performing at the BBQ Pit in Lewiston tonight. Beginning at 7 Hatfield will be playing classics from Billy Joel to the Zac Brown Band and many more; there is sure to be something that everyone will enjoy during this free all-ages shindig.


Boston-based Beatles tribute band Studio Two takes you back to a time when the world first met the Fab Four and fell in love with a group of mop-haired lads from Liverpool. Studio Two plays a plethora of Beatles favorites from their early years during a high-energy show, which features the four fellas decked out in full 60’s garb. Studio Two is a must for any George, Paul, John and Ringo fans so be sure to catch their set this evening at Somerset Abbey in Madison. Tonight’s show starts up at 7 o’clock.


Local musical group, Los Galactacos, an act comprised of adventuring string-benders, strummers, pickers, and percussionists exploring an atlas of music styles and songs, will be performing at The Barn Gallery in Ogunquit tonight. Los Galactacos repertoire includes Tex/Mex folk, Appalachian string music; Canadian Maritimes fiddle tunes, the Classic American Songbook, ol’ time Country, and more. Check them out as things get underway at 7:30.


Guitar, bass, and violin trio, Treble G bring their rock and pop instrumentals, which cover decades from the 80’s through today, to Jimmy The Greek’s this Friday.  This free performance will begin at 7:30.

With a sound that channels modern rock influences as well as incorporates anthemic choruses with themes of lust, loss and embracing  inner demons, Sparks The Rescue brings all that and more to a free rock and roll party down at The Brunswick tonight. Things get crankin’ this finally Friday right around 8:30.

Radio Revival returns to The OOB Pier tonight with tons of songs for you to groove to including covers of Queen, Billy Squier, Bowie, Tom Petty, Talking Heads, Led Zeppelin, The Strokes, Thin Lizzy, Weezer and more. This free show gets rockin’ and rollin’ at 9.

New York-based, funk and groove ensemble Lettuce will be bringing the party to the Maine State Pier this evening for a show that’ll benefit Full Plates Full Potential, a local non-profit aimed at ending childhood hunger. This rager is guaranteed to be out-of-control FUNky as things get underway at 5 with a special guest appearance by Chali 2na and opening sets by Percy Hill and Armies.

If you’re looking an eclectic mix of originals and classic covers that range in variety from blues, rock, soul and R&B then look no further than The Porthole as Slygo Road returns for some fun out on the deck this evening. This free and guaranteed-fun shindig gets swinging at 7 o’clock.

Blues-infused country and folk artist Shanna Underwood will be hosting another Songwriters in the Round event tonight at Blue. Starting at 6 Shanna will be joined by fellow singer-songwriters Monique Barrett and Dave Richardson to play some original tunes, tell stories about the songs they’re playing, and improvise with each other on one another’s compositions. This show is guaranteed to be a great way to kick-start your Friday so be sure to check it out.

Powerhouse vocalist Gina Alibrio will be joined by a few friends for a fun set of soul, funk and R&B covers and originals out on the Portland Lobster Company deck. This free and all ages show should be a stellar way to spend your Friday evening so check things out as music starts up at 6:30pm.

Genre-bending alt-rockers The Alternate Routes return to Port City Music Hall tonight as they headline a show alongside American Idol Season XIV winner and pop-rock singer-songwriter, Nick Fradian. Things get started up at this 18+ show right around 8 o’clock.

Check out a fun night of funk jams as funk and soul rock n’ roller Andrew Bailie is joined by a few friends for a free show out on the Slab patio as part of their Summer Concert Series. Enjoy some delicious pizza and take in some equally tasty tunes as things start up during this all-ages show right around 8 o’clock.

Locally-based, talented blues dudes, Samuel James and D. Gross team up once again to bring you a night of acoustic tunes over at Blue on Congress Street. Beginning at 8 this dynamic duo will be singing some songs, plucking some strings, and sharing some stories to help you thoroughly enjoy your finally Friday evening.

Jazz up your finally Friday happenings with LQH at the Dogfish Bar & Grille tonight. These talented cats will be bringing their melting pot of sound — which includes everything from soul, jazz, funk, rock and all else in between — to this free show that’ll get underway at 8.

SPACE Gallery presents a Friday full of captivating art-pop from New Zealand as Aldous Harding takes to the stage. Wildflower and Artie Appleseed open tonight’s all ages show as things get underway at 8:30pm.

Portland rock band OC and the Offbeats bring their brand of blues-infused, soulful rock and/or roll to Bayside Bowl this evening. Also on the bills is local trio Luniere who’ll be showcasing their vocal harmonies, pop, rock and folk influences.  Join this energetic bunch for some awesome tunes and times as things start up right around 8:30pm during this free and fun show.

Daniel Kushnir brings his blues-infused original tunes to Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening. Tonight’s free and all-ages performance will begin at 8:30pm.

Michale Graves cemented his reputation as one of the leading lights of horror-rock when he became lead vocalist for iconic punk band the Misfits after they reunited back in 1996. You can see him live tonight on stage at Empire alongside local favorites Covered In Bees and The Crimson Ghosts. Doors for tonight’s rock and roll show are at 9 o’clock.

Nick Perry’s Brass Tax will rocking and/or rolling on the Amigos patio tonight. This fun four-piece will be bringing you some catchy originals as well as fun cover tunes as this free show starts up at 10pm.

Dance it out at RiRa tonight as dance/pop cover act Tickle returns to bring the house down with some of the best of today’s music mixed in with a little bit of retro-funk. The party starts at 10pm.

Check out the smart, pop-infused Americana and folk sounds of local act Welterweight at Blue this evening. The band will be coming together on stage with special guest percussionist Johnny Held right around 10pm so make some plans to stop in and check them out.


The Biddeford-Saco Country Club welcomes award-winning folk musician Anni Clark tonight. Anni brings her acoustic 12-string back up to the stage for some original tunes starting at 6:30.


Time to whip out those over-sized sport coats and bust a move tonight as The Proper Pig welcomes Talking Heads tribute band, Start Making Sense this evening. Get ready to burn down the house as the party gets started right around 5:30pm with an opening set by local classic rock cover band, The Fossils.


Jeezum Crow brings some Americana, rock, country, alternative, folk, and rockabilly back to The Frog and Turtle tonight. Join them as this free show starts at 8:30.


Local folk-rock musician Brian Patricks returns to Gilbert’s Chowder House this evening. Patricks intertwines finger-style, rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out this free all ages show as things begin at 6 o’clock.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
