Check out Lousy, Bassoon & All Night at Geno’s tonight

Buck up, chums, there’s no need to wallow in the misery of another Monday especially when there’s so much awesome stuff to do tonight. So blow those Monday blues away by checking out some live, local music all around town and beyond during such shows as Kneebody at Blue, A Celebration of Townes Van Zandt at Slates, Monday of the Minds at Flask, Andrew Bailie & Crew at Portland House of Music, and more!

Tonight at Slates you can check out A Celebration of Townes Van Zandt with Seth Warner and Mike Derosier on guitar, Duane Edwards on bass, and Marty Joyce on percussion and vocals as this group of talented, artists celebrate the songs of the late, great Texas songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Tonight’s performance begins at 8:15pm.

Local pop-rock musician Michael Krapovicky returns to Pedro O’Hara’s to host another open mic event. Join in on the musical revelry as this all ages gathering gets underway around 6:30pm.

Grammy-nominated instrumental quintet Kneebody will be making some noise at Blue tonight for two ticketed shows. This exceptionally talented ensemble crosses the boundaries between jazz, funk, rock, and electronic music. You have two chances to catch them tonight at 6pm and again at 9pm.

Acoustic singer-songwriter Krystian Beal will be playing a free show over at Andy’s Old Port Pub this Monday evening. This all ages event will get underway at 7 o’clock.

There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that beginning at 9 things are going to get both incredibly loud and incredibly awesome at Geno’s in Portland as three heavy hitting acts join forces to crush your skull and melt your face all Monday night long. Bang your head and have some fun with Lousy (featuring members of Purse, Cadaverette & Say John Earl), Bassoon (NYC-based with ex-members of Harvey Milk) and All Night (featuring former members of Ocean and Lynx).

Monday of the Minds, a showcase of some of the New England hip-hop scene’s biggest and brightest artists, continues tonight at Flask Lounge. This free event will feature performances by Main Acts, Shameek The God, Seth On Gray Street, The Vatican Life Collective, and Kid Calvin. Beats, bangers and bars begin at 9pm.

Check out another Mothership Monday with Andrew Bailie & Crew down at Portland House of Music and Events tonight. Bailie and friends will be funkifying the start to your working week with some super fun jams as things get swinging at 9.
