The Maine Songwriters’ Association presents another installment of their monthly series, Songwriters on Stage, tonight at Frontier in Brunswick. The event showcases some of the brightest songwriters in the state coming together to share their original compositions and stories. This month’s event features three seasoned performers alongside an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. It’s an opportunity for listeners to discover new music as well as hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. Tonight’s concert gets started at 7 and features performances by Paddy Mills, Max Ater and Randy Lindsey, and emerging artist Will Harris.
The Working Dead are back to bring the good vibes to Portland House of Music and Events this evening. This trio of talented, local musicians will be serving up some Happy Hour, Grateful Dead jams during a free show that starts at 4:30pm.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues with a featured performance by harpist Danielle Paus and Jed Wilson. Music starts at 7:30 and will be followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.
Take in some acoustic roots tunes with David Beam and the Custom House Gang at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland this Wednesday. This lively, local bunch will be playing some music for your midweek wind-down starting at 8pm.
Local chanteuse Renee Coolbrith and Portland piano man Kris Rodgers come together for a performance in the lounge on MJ’s Wine Bar this evening as part of the Ladies in Red music series. This dynamic and talented duo will be teaming up for a free show of smoldering songs that’ll get started up right around 8 o’clock.
Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out another fun evening of folk tunes with local musician Dave Rowe. Rowe will be making some sounds that pair perfectly with a pint so swing through and check him out if you’re in the downtown area this evening.
Take in some roots rock tunes this Tuesday during a free show at Gritty’s tonight. Starting at 9 local musician Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of songs.
Local 3-piece indie rock act Mirth will be celebrating the release of their debut EP tonight with a show at Empire. The band draws influences from such acts as Local Natives, Brand New, Cursive, Father John Misty, King Crimson and Queen, and this evening they’ll be showcasing a bunch of material from their new record alongside special guests Atlas Bloom, Dead Elect, and Forget, Forget. Lots and lots of original rock and roll for your earholes to take in as things get underway upstairs right around 9.
The fellas of the Dapper Gents Duo will be helping you properly get your folk-pop on this Wednesday as they play another free show at RiRa. Join this pair of talented Gents as they start playing some fun songs right around 9.
Your second chance to catch some great Dead tunes at Portland House of Music happens right around 9 as The Maine Dead Project continues their Wednesday night residency. These talented local musicians will be bringing the sounds of the Grateful Dead and more to the stage so swing through and check ‘em out if you’re downtown this Wednesday evening.
Bess Berg and Company bring some midweek, musical merriment to the Frog and Turtle this evening. Starting at 7:30 make some plans to stop in and enjoy an evening of jazz piano paired with bass, sax, and drums during this free all-ages event.
Pete Witham returns to Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza in Westbrook for some fun Americana and rockabilly music this Wednesday. Pete will be joined by a rotating cast of characters as they bring the good times and good tunes to the stage for this free show, which’ll start at 7:30pm.
