Check out Monday of the Minds: A Community Hip Hop Showcase at Flask Lounge tonight

Oh man, the day after Old Port Festival is always a rough one. I hope you guys are hanging tough and making it through this Monday. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel and it offers up good times, good people, and good tunes, so keep pushing because we’re gonna make it after all! Check out tunes tonight such as Gina & The Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music and Events, Delta Knights at Portland Lobster Company, David Wilcox at Slates, Arrested Development at Port City Music Hall and more!


Singer-songwriter David Wilcox brings his unique guitar style that blends soft jazz and folk together, along with his warm, baritone vocal tone and poetic lyricism to Slates in Hallowell this evening. Tonight’s performance gets underway at 8pm.

Get the week started at Easy Street Lounge as jam band Hambone brings some musical merriment to your Monday with an open jam welcome to all. Starting at 9, check out Hambone’s soulful, energetic jams and even get up and play some tunes of your own.


Pop-rock artist Michael Krapovicky returns to Pedro O’Hara’s this Monday evening to host another free open mic event. This event is open to all as the creative gathering and networking begins at 6:30pm.


Take on this Monday by taking in some tunes out on the Portland Lobster Company deck as local act the Delta Knights bring some R&B, blues, soul, funk, swing, rock, jazz and more to this all ages shindig that’ll start up at 6:30pm.

Frank Donovan of Maine rock-reggae act Brothers Donovan goes solo tonight with an acoustic performance at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street. Starting right around 7 Frank will be singing some songs that are certain to ease the pain of another Monday so swing through and have some fun if you’re out and about this evening.

Afrocentric rap troupe Arrested Development bring their community-conscious jams to the stage of Port City Music Hall for an all ages show that’ll start up at 8pm.

Get after it with Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music and Events as this terrifically talented act kicks off their summer residency tonight. The band, which is basically most of the members of Model Airplane, back up this talented songstress for some funk, soul and R&B jams that are guaranteed to please as the good times get rollin’ right around 9.

Monday of the Minds, a showcase of some of the scene’s biggest and brightest hip hop artists, continues tonight at Flask Lounge. This free event is hosted by Stay on Mars and Smokeye. Tonight they welcome Height Keech, Brzowski, Human Speakers and Sam Jacobsen to showcase some of their beats, bangers and bars. Things get underway right around 9 o’clock tonight during this free and fun show.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
