If you’re in Central Maine this evening make plans to head out to the Bangor Public Library for Songs Beyond Borders. This songwriter’s circle will be bringing together acclaimed artists from Maine and Maritime Canada. The event gets underway at 7pm and will featured performers Denny Breau, Heather Pierson, Ian Sherwood and Ashley Condon.
Slates welcomes The Scotti River Trio this Monday evening. With combined musical experience of over a century, The Scotti River Trio will not disappoint. These three fine musicians will run the gamut of vintage acoustic folk to down-home blues, with a few covers as well as originals.Join Scott Elliot, Steve Jones and Paul Mellyn for an enjoyable evening of tunes as things start up at 8:15pm.
Local pop-rock musician Michael Krapovicky returns to Pedro O’Hara’s to host another open mic event. Join in on the musical revelry as this all ages gathering gets underway around 6:30pm.
Singer-songwriter Jeff Christmas will be at Andy’s Old Port Pub this Monday evening. Join Jeff for some music as this free and all-ages show starts up at 7pm.
Mothership Mondays with Andrew Bailie & Crew continue tonight at Portland House of Music and Events. Get down with Bailie and friends as they funk up your Monday with some super fun jams starting at 9pm.
Put on your party pants and join the Primary Dance Party as they celebrate their 2nd Annual Talking Heads Night at Flask Lounge. DJs Zimbra and DoomsdayJ will be spinning all your TH tunes as well as some New Wave, synth-pop and post-punk jams as this free party begins at 9 o’clock.
Monday of the Minds, a showcase of some of the New England hip-hop scene’s biggest and brightest artists, takes over Empire tonight as they welcome Cryptic Wisdom with Stay On Mars, Wisdom, James Grant, and Ill Murray to the stage for some beats, bangers and bars beginning at 9pm.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
