Check out Monday of the Minds at Flask Lounge tonight

If you’re looking to turn this Monday around as much as I am then get out there and check out a great night of music that’s certain to kick start this week for y’all. Tons of tunes to take in including Pat Foley at The Porthole, Gina & The Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music and Events, Kasey Chambers and Garrett Kato at Port City Music Hall, OC and The Offbeats at Portland Lobster Company, and more!


Local jam band Hambone will be hosting an open jam tonight at Easy Street Lounge. Tonight they welcome any and all musicians to join them for some musical merriment as this free shindig gets swinging at 9 o’clock.


Local pop-rock musician Michael Krapovicky returns to Pedro O’Hara’s to host another open mic event. Join in on the musical revelry as this all ages gathering gets underway around 6:30pm.


My Skeleton, a local acoustic act consisting of musicians Alex Roy and Matt Libby, will be performing a free show out at Hooligan’s on the pier in OOB tonight. Join these fellas for some Monday night fun beginning at 9pm.


The Porthole welcomes back Pat Foley to the deck for some acoustic country-rock. If you’re in the area tonight make some plans to drop by as the music starts up at 6.

Local rock outfit OC and the Offbeats bring their new brand of blues and soul to a super fun and super free outdoor show at Portland Lobster Company this evening. Join this band of musical merrymakers for a night of awesome tunes and guaranteed dancing as things start up right at 6pm.

Singer-songwriter Jeff Christmas returns to Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Join Jeff for some good times and good tunes as this free and all-ages show starts up at 7pm.

One of Australia’s most successful and celebrated country artists, Kasey Chambers comes to town tonight for a performance at Port City Music Hall. Also on this evening’s bill is Australian folk-rock singer-songwriter, Garrett Kato, who will open the show at 8 o’clock.

Monday of the Minds, a showcase of some of the scene’s biggest and brightest hip hop artists, continues tonight at Flask Lounge. Tonight they welcome Ben Shorr, Graphic Melee, Khed Calvin, Local Mac and Unique Unknown to showcase some of their beats, bangers and bars. Things get underway right around 9 with early and late night freestyle cyphers to sign up for too. This is a free show, but donations are encourage to help raise money for the 5th Annual Maine Hip Hop Summit happening in Congress Square Park on August 18th.

Funky Mondays continue to be the place to get down as Gina Alibrio and the Red Eye Flight Crew bring you some of the funkiest, fun and soul-filled sounds around. Alibrio’s impressive pipes are backed by a band made up of most of the members of Model Airplane so basically you’re guaranteed to have a wicked good time boogie-ing down to some terrific tunes as things get started at 9 over at Portland House of Music and Events.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
