You can join local duo Phil N’ The Blanks at Gritty’s in Auburn tonight for a free show featuring some blues, classic rock, country, R&B and modern pop cover tunes as things get started up at 8 o’clock tonight.
Uke n’ Smile returns to the Local Buzz this evening for another open mic. All musicians of different skills and genres are welcome as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 7:30.
Boston area musicians and singer-songwriters, Porch Party Mamas will be bringing their own brand of urban folk, country and blues to the stage of the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse tonight. This guaranteed par-tay gets underway at 7 o’clock.
Local musician Steve Jones and a few of his friends will be making some joyful noise at The Liberal Cup this evening. Jones and company will be performing a blend of rockabilly, country, old-time rock and roll, Americana, roots and more starting at 8 o’clock.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
American Ride will be busting out a bunch of modern country covers for you to boogie down to this evening as they play a free show at The Brunswick beginning at 8pm.
Local party band The GE3ks are bringing some of the best 80’s pop, dance, New Wave, hard rock, rap and one hit wonder tunes to The Pier Patio Pub once again tonight. Shake your groove thing out on the dance floor as this free show gets swinging at 9.
The Alex Meixner Band will be bringing the party to The Thirsty Pig tonight with a free show featuring their energetic blend of folk, jazz and polka. The fun gets underway right around 6pm.
The Shakes, a 7-piece funk, rock and reggae collective from Hallowell that features some of the Maine music scene’s most fun and funky players, will be performing live out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company tonight. This free, all ages show starts up right around 6:30pm.
The Fort Allen Park bandstand hosts the Downeast Soul Coalition tonight for a Thursday chock full of solid soul music that will get kickin’ right around 6:30pm. This event is free and all-ages and guaranteed to be a whole lot of fun.
High-energy, charismatic, indie-folk duo, Paleface performs as Blue this evening. Check this pair out as the music gets underway at 7 o’clock.
Local four-piece rock n’ roll band, Riot Act, goes quiet tonight for an acoustic set at The Porthole. Tonight’s free show gets started right around 6.
Local folk-rock cover act Rippleton Cross will be at Andy’s Old Port Pub. Beginning at 7 the duo will be performing acoustic renditions of songs by such artists as Joe Jackson, Simon & Garfunkel, The Who, Cat Stevens and many, many more. This event is free so make some plans to check it out if you’re in the area this evening.
Spice things up tonight with a free, outdoor performance from Primo Cubano as Slab’s Summer Music Series continues. Starting at 7 dance the evening away to some of the best classic Cuban music around.
MB Padfield brings her fun fusion of pop, rock, blues, jazz and hip-hop elements back to Brian Boru tonight. Check out Padfield’s impressive guitar skills and smoky vocals as things get underway at 7:30 followed by dance songs spun by DJ Tiny Dancer.
Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins will be hanging out at RiRa for some sweet, acoustic action. You know Ben from his time spent pop-rockin’ with his band Kilcollins, but this evening he teams up with the talented Vargas Twins for some fun cover tunes and originals starting right around 9 o’clock.
Toby McAllister of local pop-rock band Sparks The Rescue will be performing a solo set out on the Oasis patio this evening. Starting at 9pm Toby will be performing some of his favorite STR originals as well as some covers of popular tunes from the past 20 plus years.
Portland singer-songwriter Sorcha Cribben-Merrill will be performing at Blue tonight. Cribben-Merrill is a staple of the Maine music scene with stirring folk-blues-soul compositions that she sings in a sultry, jazzy voice of unexpected power. Tonight’s show gets started up at 9pm.
Jam out this Thirsty Thursday with A Band Beyond Description at Gritty’s in the Old Port tonight. Get your free Grateful Dead freak out on starting at 9pm.
Tons of fun to be had out on the Amigos patio tonight as The Aquanauts bring their surf rock sounds to life during a free show that’ll start up at 9:30pm.
Maine-based adult-contemporary, folk rock artist Don Campbell returns to Easy Day this Thursday evening for another free, all-ages show that will start at 6pm.
Local artist Jim Gallant brings a mix of Americana, blues, folk, bluegrass and rockabilly to Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza tonight. Join him for a free evening of music as this all ages show starts at 7 o’clock.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
