Sparks The Rescue front man Alex Roy goes solo and acoustic tonight for a show at Champions. Beginning at 9 you can stop through and check out some of Roy’s pop-rock jams as he plays a free set of songs this evening.
Fat Knuckle Freddy is back at Blue this Tuesday evening. Freddy is a local composer, instrumentalist and a songwriter who plays and writes American Primitive Music on cigar box, resonator, Weissenborn, acoustic, and fretless guitars. Check out this fun night of of music as things get started up right around 7 o’clock.
Portland’s own feel-good collective Happy Folk will be bringing some jazz-rock jams to Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Join this band of musical merrymakers for an evening of feel-good fun as things get started right around 7.
New England Celtic Arts presents award-winning composers and multi-instrumentalists Scott Macmillan and Colin Grant at One Longfellow Square tonight. The evening will showcase acoustic instrumental medleys, including a number of Macmillan’s and Grant’s original compositions arranged with traditional and contemporary tunes from Cape Breton, Scotland, Ireland, and beyond. Music begins at 7pm tonight.
Crooners & Cocktails welcomes back Portland piano man Mike Maurice for another Tuesday evening filled with funk, soul and jazz selections. Join Mike as things get underway at 9pm.
Take in some roots rock tunes this Tuesday during a free show at Gritty’s tonight. Starting at 9 local musician Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of songs.
Don’t snooze on an awesome night of hip-hop over at Empire as they welcome R.A. the Rugged Man & A.F.R.O. with special guests Wisdom, Shane Reis, Ock Cousteau, HVZE & Dilyrium, and MC 22. The party starts upstairs right around 9 o’clock.
Local artist Clara Junken will be holding it down once again at Blue tonight. Starting at 9 Clara will be playing both her own material as well as few cover tunes during this fun musical gathering, so grab some friends, enjoy a delicious cocktail and let Junken serenade you into the evening hours.
Tonight Portland House of Music and Events welcomes livetronica/electro-funk act the G-Nome Project to the stage. G-Nome Project has been regarded as “Israel’s premier Livetronica band” by the likes of Relix Magazine, performing what Live For Live Music deems “impressive and surprising shows.” You can check them out for yourself as things start up right around 9 tonight.
Flask Lounge hosts another Open Mic for DJs with a free dance party that encourages up and coming record spinners and producers to take a chance and get up on the tables during this fun event. All you need to bring are your records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome. Tonight’s DJ open mic begins at 9pm.
Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile returns to the Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland tonight for another open mic. All artists of different skills and genres are welcome as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 8.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
