Check out Slaughter To Prevail with Widowmaker, Ruin & The Waking Life at Port City Music Hall tonight

I am sending out some virtual high fives to each of you as we hurdle the hump and take on another Wednesday. If you’re looking to treat yourself to some live, local music this evening, here are some fine establishments to do just that! Check out such shows as Cocek! Brass Band in Congress Square Park, David Beam & Friends at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Ron Bergeron at Pedro O’Hara’s, Dapper Gents Duo at RiRa, Alternate Endings at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, and more!


If you’re south of Portland tonight and looking to take in some roots rock jams then make your way down to Champions Sports Bar in Biddeford where Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of tunes. Humphrey will be doing his thing starting at 9pm. It’s a free event so no excuses; check it out!


Dos Canosos will be bringing some Latin music to Frontier tonight as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge music series. Tonight’s event is free and all ages and will get underway at 7:30pm.


Check out local musician Ron Bergeron as he plays a free and all-ages show at Pedro O’Hara’s this evening. Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 7 with tons great cover songs by The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and many more.


Congress Square Park will host a performance by Cocek! Brass Band this evening. The band performs original music based on the sounds of Eastern European brass bands. They are a 5-piece group consisting of 2 trumpets, trombone, tuba and bass drum, that feature members come from internationally touring ensembles like John Brown’s Body and Itzhak Perlman and bring a blend of dance music with stellar improvisation and melodies that are guaranteed to get you moving as this free and all ages event gets underway at 6pm.

Portland psychedelic folk-rocker Dominic Lavoie and a couple of his friends come together this evening to play some tunes out on the deck of Portland Lobster Company. Check out a set of both original jams and cover tunes as this free, all ages shindig gets swinging around 6:30.

Get heavy this Hump Day with an all-ages metal show happening at Port City Music Hall featuring sets by Slaughter To Prevail, Widowmaker, Ruin, and The Waking Life. Things get loud and awesome with starting at 7pm.

Hurdle the hump with some acoustic roots tunes as David Beam & Friends return to Andy’s Old Port Pub for some midweek fun. This talented troupe will begin playing right around 7 during this free and all-ages event.

Blue’s Irish Concert Series
continues this evening with a musical performance by fiddler, Willie Kelly and uilleann pipes player, David Prowler.  The pair is embarking on a selective tour in the Northeastern United States, launching their album, Apples in Winter and will be playing tonight beginning at 7:30pm..

Local folk artist Dave Rowe is back at Bull Feeney’s tonight. Join Rowe for some good times and good tunes as this free show begins at 8pm.

Check out some good tunes and good vibes going down at Portland House of Music and Events tonight as The Maine Dead Project returns to the stage as part of their summer residency. These talented locals will be taking on the tunes of the Grateful Dead as this groovy gathering gets underway right around 9 o’clock.

Local folk-pop act the Dapper Gents Duo return to the stage of RiRa tonight for their regular Wednesday night gig. Join these fellas for some musical revelry as this free show starts up around 9pm.

More midweek fun will be happening at Crooners & Cocktails tonight as Hello Clarice brings some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.


Wanna check out some open mic action this evening? Then make some moves to BeBe’s Burritos and Cantina in Saco. This free and all ages gathering offers up a full PA system for musicians to use as well as the opportunity to score some future gigs at Bebe’s. There will be great food and drink available while you participate in an open mic that always features a welcoming audience in a fun atmosphere. This evening’s open mic starts up at 6:30pm.


Bridgton-based Americana act, Alternate Endings will be bringing their original songs and eclectic covers to Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza this evening. Tonight’s free and all ages performance will get started up at 7 o’clock.

Bess Berg and Company bring some midweek, musical merriment to The Frog and Turtle this evening. Starting at 7:30 make some plans to stop in and enjoy an evening of jazz piano paired with bass, sax, and drums during this free all-ages event.

Holly Nunan

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
