Cambridge alternative folk-rock act The Ballroom Thieves return to Port City Music Hall tonight for a special show featuring accompaniment by the one and only Maine Youth Rock Orchestra. See this dynamic trio paired with some of the state’s most talented youth as this all ages show begins at 7:30 with an opening set from Burlington indie folk act The DuPont Brothers.
Jazz things up this finally Friday at the Dogfish Bar & Grille with LQH (Chas Lester, Tyler Quist, and Evan Haines). The band will be bringing their melting pot of sound — everything from soul, jazz, funk, and rock —to the stage starting at 8 tonight.

Kitty Critic, the locally-based web series that features musicians performing in their fans’ homes for their fans’ cats and combines the earnest intimacy of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts with the satirical wit of The Daily Show, will be holding its 2ndAnnual Kitty Critic Concert at SPACE Gallery tonight. This evening’s event will include performances by Samuel James, Spencer Albee, Pretty Sad, Isobell and other musicians who were featured in the second season of the series. Also happening during this feline-focused Friday will be the Kitty Critic Contest Award Ceremony, the premiere of a new episode and of course some hard hitting live interviews by host Mr. Jim LeJames.
