The Red Barn in Augusta welcomes back talented, local act, The Veayo Twins Trio for a free, all-ages show this Wednesday afternoon. Beginning at 5 you can check out the band’s unique original tunes, which span genres such as country, pop, rock, jazz and more.


The Easy Money Band will be performing some Music in the Park this Wednesday. Beginning at 5:30 this talented act will get you grooving with their fun blend of rock, country, soul and blues outside at Shevenell Park in Biddeford.


Brunswick’s Music on the Mall concert series continues this evening with some classic hits from the past 50 years as Cilantro brings their blend of harmonies and delicate instrumentation to the stage this Wednesday. Grab some friends and a picnic dinner and head out to the Brunswick Town Mall as this free, all-ages event starts at 6pm.

Local jazz artist Viva brings her vivacious vocals to Frontier tonight as part of the venue’s Live on the Lounge music series. Check out this free show filled with funk, jazz standards, soul songs and Latin tunes that are done by Viva and her talented band, The Reinforcements, with a fun and modern twist. Tonight’s performance will get underway around 7:30pm.


If you’re hanging in Gray tonight stop on by Cole Farms for this week’s Open Mic with local musician Dave Jacquet. It’s a free event, there’s tasty food and delicious drinks, and guaranteed to be a whole lot of fun, so check it out as things get started up at 7.


If you’re in the Harrison area this Wednesday don’t miss the Songwriters Circle happening at the Deertrees Theatre. This unique evening will be showcasing the musical efforts of storyteller and musician Denny Breau, Portland songstress Emilia Dahlin, and award-winning musician and songwriter Heather Pierson. Things get underway right around 7:30pm.


Sparks The Rescue front man, Alex Roy goes solo and acoustic for an evening performance at The Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach. Starting at 7, check out some of Roy’s pop-rock jams as he plays a free set of songs right on through 11 o’clock.


Local chanteuse Renee Coolbrith and piano man Kris Rodgers come together for a live performance in the lounge on MJ’s Wine Bar in Portland this evening for the music series known as Ladies in Red. This dynamic and talented duo will be teaming up for a free show of smoldering songs that’ll get started up right around 8 o’clock.

The Working Dead are bringing some grooves out on to the patio of Portland House of Music and Events this Wednesday. This trio of talented artists will be serving up some Happy Hour Grateful Dead jams during a free show that starts at 4pm outside on the patio.

It’s Wednesday, which means that The Porthole welcomes back talented local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett for his weekly gig out on the deck stage. This evening’s free event starts up at 6 with original songs that showcase Isaiah’s distinctive blend of acoustic pop and funk as well as some well-known cover tunes so if you’re downtown swing through and check it out.

Alt-country rock n’ rollers The Mallett Brothers Band will be getting their phreak on during a free pre-Phish party at The Thirsty Pig. Join the fellas for some boot-stomping fun before the big show as their set starts up right around 4 o’clock.

Singer, songwriter, guit-fiddler, and all around good dude, Eric Bettencourt is back on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company with a few of his pals this Wednesday evening.  This free show is guaranteed to be a good time full of some rootsy, Americana goodness so swing through and check things out as the music starts right around 6:30pm.

Unwind a bit this Wednesday with some down home, acoustic roots tunes courtesy of David Beam and the Custom House Gang as the fellas play a free show at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port tonight. This talented troupe will be playing some great music starting right around 8.

Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out another fun evening of folk tunes with local musician Dave Rowe. Rowe will be creating sounds that pair perfectly with an ice cold pint of beer, so swing through and check him out if you’re in the downtown area this evening.

Work it out this Wednesday at a free and friggen awesome rock and roll show happening at Flask Lounge. Tonight The Empty, The English Muffins, and The Tarantula Brothers are joining musical forces for a night of midweek mayhem that is guaranteed to bring some much needed merriment to your Hump Day. Catch some great tunes and vibes happening over at Portland House of Music as Doug Emery, Justin Maxwell, Joshua M. Robbins, Christopher Sweet, Tim Sullivan and Ryan Benoit of The Maine Dead Project continue their summer residency on stage tonight. These talented musicians will be performing songs from the Grateful Dead and more as things get underway at 9pm.

Folk-pop rockers the Dapper Gents Duo return to the stage of RiRa tonight for another free 21+ show. Let the good times roll as the music start up at 9 o’clock.

Get down on it after your Phish Phreakout with some explosive, high-energy funk, jazz, soul and R&B at Empire as The Nth Power returns to Portland for a night of serious, soulful fun. Things get bumping right around 10 at this Phish After Party with an opening set from Portland’s own Mosart212, so swing through and check things out if you’re lookin’ to keep the good times rollin’ tonight.

Another Phish After Party will be happening right across the street from the old Civic Center at Port City Music Hall as Cats Under The Stars, a Tribute to the Jerry Garcia Band, returns to Portland for some fun. Get ready to vibe out to the tunes of Jerry beginning at 10:30 this wacky Wednesday.


Boston-based Beatles tribute band, Studio Two, will be taking you back to the early 60’s, a time when The Fab Four was truly taking the world by storm, as these talented gents play a free and fun show out at Royal River Park in Yarmouth.  Join these fab fellas for some serious nostalgic fun as the music starts at 6:30pm.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
