What is up, Wednesday!? Here we are ready to hurdle the hump once again and as usual we’ve totally got this! There are a ton of awesome mid-week parties to check out including Viva and The Reinforcements at Frontier, Downeast Soul Coalition at Portland Lobster Company, The Maine Dead Project at Portland House of Music and Events, Don Campbell at The Frog and Turtle, and more!


If you’re looking to check out some open mic action this evening make plans to head out to BeBe’s Burritos and Cantina in Saco as they host another free an all ages gathering. This musical event features a full PA system for musicians to use as well as the opportunity for musicians to establish future gigs at the venue. There will be great food and drink available while you participate in an open mic that always features a welcoming audience in a fun atmosphere. This evening’s open mic starts up at 6:30pm.

Take in some roots rock tunes during a free show at Champions tonight. Starting at 9 local musician Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of songs.


Singer Viva will be bringing her vivacious vocals back to Frontier alongside her talented band The Reinforcements for an evening of jazz standards, funk, soul, and Latin tunes. This free and fun show starts up at 7:30pm.


Folk-rock duo Rippleton Cross will be back at Cole Farms this Wednesday to host another free open mic event. The pair will be performing some songs as well as encouraging other musicians to get up on the mic and have some fun. This all-ages gathering will get underway at 7pm.


Portland Lobster Company on Commercial Street hosts the Downeast Soul Coalition this Wednesday for a full evening of solid soul music that gets underway right around 6. This event is free and all-ages and guaranteed to be a whole lot of fun.

Singer-songwriter Jeff Christmas will be at Andy’s Old Port Pub this Monday evening. Join Jeff for some music as this free and all-ages show starts up at 7pm.

Legendary Canadian folk-rock singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, who’s hits include ‘Sundown’ as well as ‘The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald’, returns to Merrill Auditorium in Portland this evening to perform live with his band. If you’ve never seen this Canadian national treasure in action, I’d suggest checking out this show, which gets underway right around 8 o’clock tonight.

Psychobilly rock and roll duo, The Living Deads make a stop in Portland tonight on their latest tour. They’ll be bringing some hell-fire and rock and roll to Mathew’s alongside Elvirus Outsider of The Outsiders and The Murder Weapon. Get rowdy this Wednesday as things get crankin’ right around 8pm.

Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues with a featured performance by pipes duo Will Woodson and Joey Abarta. Music starts at 8 and will be followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.

Local folk artist Dave Rowe will be performing at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight. Join Rowe for some rollicking good times as this free show gets underway at 8pm.

Mellow your mind with some midweek tuneage over at Portland House of Music as The Maine Dead Project kicks off their summer residency. These talented musicians will be performing songs from the Grateful Dead and other beloved jam bands as things get underway at 9pm.

Local folk-pop act the Dapper Gents Duo return to the stage of RiRa tonight for their regular Wednesday night gig. Join these fellas for some musical revelry as this free show starts up around 9pm.

Crooners & Cocktails welcomes back local duo Hello Clarice as these pair of talented fellas bring some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.


Maine-based adult-contemporary folk rock artist Don Campbell returns to The Frog and Turtle tonight for a free, all-ages show that will start at 7:30pm.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.
