Holy Hot Pockets, I am absolutely ready for this week to cut it out already! At least I can find solace in the fact that it’s Wednesday and we’re half way there. That being said, it’s time for me to suck it up and get on out there this evening. Here are the haps for your midweek party report, which include the Drip Sweat Dance Party at Flask Lounge, the Goo Goo Dolls with Collective Soul & Tribe Society at the Maine State Pier, The Depths at Oasis, Travis James Humphrey at Champions, The Gather Rounders at The Brunswick Mall, Downeast Soul Coalition at Congress Square Park, Eric Bettencourt & Friends at Portland Lobster Company and more!


Take in some roots rock tunes as local musician Travis James Humphrey plays a free show at Champions. Let the good times roll as things get swinging right around 9 o’clock.


The Brunswick Mall will be hosting local act The Gather Rounders tonight as part of the community’s free, all-ages summer concert series, Music on the Mall. Starting at 6, check out this string band that blends traditional and progressive bluegrass and folk into a lush mix of clean harmonies, inventive pickin’ and solid grooves outside in the park.

Tyler Lienhardt and Jake Hoffman will be bringing you some old-time, folk, blues and world music during this week’s installment of the Frontier’s Live in the Lounge music series. This pair of talented local musicians join forces as Red-Eyed Fox to create some delightful sounds using fiddle, banjo, and guitar. This free show will start up at 7:30pm.


Sparks The Rescue front man, Alex Roy goes solo and acoustic for an early evening performance out on The Brunswick patio this Wednesday. Beginning at 7 check out some of Roy’s pop-rock jams as he plays a free set until 11.


Attention Dead Heads! You’ve got two chances to get your noodle on at Portland House of Music this Wednesday. Your first chance happens during Happy Hour with The Working Dead as they play a free show out on the patio. Starting at 4:30 this talented trio will be playing all your favorite Grateful Dead tunes as well as some various covers from other beloved jam bands so make some plans to check it out.

Alternative pop-rock act the Goo Goo Dolls will be performing on the Maine State Pier tonight alongside special guests Collective Soul and Tribe Society. This all-ages concert starts at 5pm.

Head out to Congress Square Park this evening as local act Downeast Soul Coalition takes to the outdoor stage for a midweek party chock full of some solid funk and soul sounds. This free and all ages shindig will get swinging right around 6 o’clock.

The Porthole welcomes back local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett for a set of songs this evening. Starting at 6 check out Isaiah’s distinctive mix of acoustic pop and funk during this free and fun event, and make sure you scoop up a copy of his new record, Vessels, while you’re at it!

Singer, songwriter, guit-fiddler, and all around good dude, Eric Bettencourt is back on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company with a few of his pals this Wednesday evening.  This free show is guaranteed to be a good time full of some rootsy, Americana goodness so swing through and check things out as the music starts right around 6:30pm.

Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues with a featured performance from Miss Rosie. Music starts at 7:30 and will be followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.

Local folk musician Dave Rowe will be playing another free show over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight. Join Rowe for some good times and good tunes as things start up right around 8 o’clock.
Unwind this Wednesday with some acoustic roots tunes with David Beam and the Custom House Gang at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port tonight. This talented troupe will be playing some great music starting right around 8 during this free and all ages show.

Your second chance to catch some great Dead tunes at Portland House of Music happens right around 9 tonight as The Maine Dead Project continues their summer residency. These talented local musicians will be bringing the sounds of the Grateful Dead and more to the stage so swing through and check ‘em out if you’re downtown this Wednesday evening.

Get your folk-pop on tonight during a free show with the Dapper Gents Duo as they return to the stage of RiRa right around 9 o’clock.

Flask Lounge hosts the Drip Sweat Dance Party tonight as DJs msrecks and Double Dessert bring you some sultry summer mix tapes to sweat to out on the dance floor. Kick those midweek blues with some throwback joints and new bangers as this free party gets pumpin’ right around 9.
Local cover act The Depths will be bringing the party to the Oasis patio this Wednesday. The band will be playing all kinds of songs from all kinds of genres during this free show, which starts up at 9.

The Jimmy Macisso Band is back at The Frog and Turtle tonight for a free show filled with some jazz classics. Tonight’s performance begins at 7:30pm.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
