My excuse for not being able to get out and enjoy the plethora of local shows that happen on Thursday evenings is simple and true: I have to wake up at the butt crack of dawn on Friday mornings to make intelligible things come out of my mouth on live television. However, I do not believe that any of you guys should have any excuses as to why you should miss out on all of the incredible happenings of this Thursday evening, so hike up those Party Jorts and get down to it tonight! Lots to see and do including shows such as Daedelus with Jaw Gems at Blue, Rigor Samsa, Crushed By Amps & The Very Reverend at Geno’s, Reel Big Fish with The Expendables, The Queers & Tunnel Vision at Aura, Muddy Ruckus with SnugHouse & Molly Gibbs at Empire, Bob Charest Band at Scarborough Memorial Park, Trisha Mason Band at the American Legion Hall in Southwest Harbor, The Grassholes at Bissell Brothers, American Ride at The Brunswick, Keanu Keanu at Standard Gastropub, and so much more!
You can join local duo Phil N’ The Blanks at Gritty’s in Auburn tonight for a free show featuring some blues, classic rock, country, R&B and modern pop cover tunes as things get started up at 8 o’clock tonight.
If you’re rockin’ it in Bangor tonight be sure to get over to Pickering Square for some danceable funk, rock and soul covers courtesy of Souled Out. This fun, local act will be playing outside during a free and all-ages show that’ll begin at 6pm.
The Linekin Bay Resort in Boothbay Harbor welcomes acoustic Americana act Double Entendre this evening. This talented duo will start making some sweet sounds starting right around 5pm.
Portland psychedelic folk-rocker Dominic Lavoie and a couple of his friends come together this evening to play some tunes as Keanu Keanu as part of Standard Gastropub’s Summer Music Series. Check out a set of both original jams and cover tunes as this free shindig gets swinging around 5 o’clock.
Veteran singer-songwriter Katie Daggett will be bringing some of her beloved adult contemporary compositions to The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro for a free and family-friendly show that’ll start up at 6pm.
Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile will be hosting another open mic event over at Local Buzz. All musicians of varying skills and genres are welcome to get up on the microphone and perform as things get underway right around 7:30pm.
Local musician Steve Jones and a few of his friends will be making some joyful noise at The Liberal Cup this evening. Jones and company will be performing a blend of rockabilly, country, old-time rock and roll, Americana, roots and more starting at 7 o’clock.
Solo pianist and vocalist Josh Hatfield will be performing at Pedro O’Hara’s tonight. Beginning at 7 Hatfield will be playing classics from Billy Joel to the Zac Brown Band and many more; there is sure to be something that everyone will enjoy during this free all-ages shindig.
Toby & Nate of Sparks The Rescue will be playing all of your favorite pop-rock tunes at Captain Jack’s in Naples tonight. Join these fun and talented fellas as this free show starts at 7 o’clock.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
Portland trio, Bread & Circus will be bringing some soul and blues classics to Old Vines Wine Bar in Kennebunk. Join these three talented musical merrymakers as things get underway at 6.
Pop-rock musician Alex Roy will be going solo and acoustic tonight for a show at Jimmy The Greek’s this Thursday evening. Beginning at 7 you can stop through and check out some of Roy’s originals as well as some fun cover tunes as he plays a free set of songs this evening.
American Ride will be busting out a bunch of modern country covers for you to boogie down to this evening as they play a free show at The Brunswick beginning at 8pm.

Check out The Grassholes as they play some feel-good bluegrass tunes at Bissell Brothers tonight. Starting at 6pm kick back, enjoy some delicious food, and mighty fine tunes during this free shindig.
Local four-piece rock n’ roll band, Riot Act, goes quiet tonight for another acoustic set at The Porthole. Tonight’s free show gets started right around 6.
Former American Idol contestant Elise Testone will be performing with some of her friends out on the deck of Portland Lobster Company this evening. Testone draws musical influences from several styles including smooth jazz and hard rock. Testone competed in the 11th season of American Idol, putting her spin on tunes by Janis Joplin, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Al Green and more, eventually placing sixth. This free and all-ages shindig gets shaking at 6:30pm.
L.A. beat scene veteran, Daedelus, will be exploring the boundaries of rave, hip-hop, found sound, and strange samples, while creating his own unique sound of electronic music on stage at Blue tonight. This special ticketed show starts at 7pm with an opening set by self-proclaimed “drip hop”, “ratchet jazz”, and beat-based electro act Jaw Gems; definitely not a show to be missed so scoop up your tickets now!
Pop-tinged Americana duo Copilot will be soaring into town for another show over at Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Join the pair for some fun tunes during this free, all-ages show as the music starts at 7 o’clock.
Spice things up tonight with a free, outdoor performance from Primo Cubano as Slab’s Summer Music Series continues. Starting at 7 dance the evening away to some of the best classic Cuban music around.
It’ll be a night of ska, craft beer and good times at Aura tonight as Reel Big Fish brings their Beer Run Tour to Portland with special guests The Expendables, The Queers and Tunnel Vision. Don’t miss out on the rampaging, good-time ska and punk as things get swinging right around 7 o’clock.
The Work Trucks will be making some noise up on Munjoy tonight as they perform at the St. Lawrence Arts Center. With a blend of rockabilly, country, old-time rock and roll, Americana, and roots rock, the act is guaranteed to please as they get the party started right around 7.
If you’re looking for some doom, gloom, mighty metal and thunderous controlled chaos in the form of heaving hitting tunes then look no further than SPACE Gallery in Portland tonight as they welcome Thou, Cloud Rat, False, Moloch and Nycterent to the stage for a show that is guaranteed to be both loud and awesome and might even melt your face off a little bit. Things get crankin’ right around 7:30pm.

Local cover act The Depths will be bringing the party to the Oasis patio this evening. The band will be playing all kinds of songs from all kinds of genres during this free show, which starts up at 9.
Jam out this Thirsty Thursday with A Band Beyond Description at Gritty’s in the Old Port tonight. Get your free Grateful Dead freak out on starting at 9pm.
Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins are back at RiRa tonight for some sweet, acoustic sounds. You know Ben from his time spent fronting local pop-rock act, Kilcollins, but this evening he teams up with the talented Vargas Twins for some fun cover tunes and original songs starting right around 9.
Another terrific show to stop into tonight will be happening at Empire in downtown Portland as fiery, foot-stomping blues-folk act Muddy Ruckus returns to the stage alongside folk acts SnugHouse and Molly Gibbs. Expect lots of great music as the party gets hopping upstairs around 9pm.
There’s going to be one helluva party at Geno’s tonight as Are You Kidding Me? Tapes presents another local music throw down with three awesome rock n’ roll bands joining forces for some Thursday night thunder. Starting at 9, check out electrifying sets from Rigor Samsa, The Very Reverend and Crushed By Amps.
The party-polished Bob Charest Band will be entertaining one and all at Scarborough Memorial Park this evening. This versatile and fun cover band will be rockin’ a free, family-friendly party starting at 6:30pm.
Easy Day hosts local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett once again this evening as he performs a set of his own original acoustic pop and funk songs as well as some fun covers. Things get started at 6 o’clock, so stop through and check it out if you’re in the area this Thursday evening.
If you’re up in Southwest Harbor tonight be sure to check out the Trisha Mason Band as they serve up some crowd-pleasing covers as well as catchy original tunes starting right around 7 at the American Legion Hall.
Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza welcomes back award-winning folk musician Anni Clark tonight. Anni brings her acoustic 12-string back up to the stage for some original tunes starting at 7.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
