These fellas will be getting things rollin’ right around 8 with their fun blend of folk, pop and rock. Tonight’s gig is guaranteed to be a good time, so grab some pals and have some fun this evening.


Local four-piece rock n’ roll act, Riot Act goes quiet tonight for an acoustic set at Champions. Tonight’s free show gets started right around 6 o’clock.

Musician Alex Culbreth will be serving up some alt-country, blues and punk-influenced tunes at Elements on Main Street tonight. This free all ages shindig will get swinging right around 8.

Right Amount of Wrong will be bringing the rock and roll party to the stage of the Front Street Tavern in Farmington tonight as they fire things up right around 9 o’clock with their wicked fun classic and modern rock covers.


Gritty’s in Freeport welcomes back Jeff Kilton for some sounds that’ll include covers of such artists as Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, The Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, The Band, Led Zep, Bob Marley and more. Tonight’s free show starts up at 8.


Check out a super fun pop-punk and alt-rock blowout with four great local bands at Spire 29 on the Square in Gorham tonight as they welcome Random Ideas, All Quiet Ire, Seven Seconds Left and New World Oyster to the stage for a night of rockin’ and rollin’. Black Cat Road will be playing out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company tonight as they bring their funky, soulful, rootsy blues to life starting at 6.

The Teg Glendon Band will be bringing their eclectic blend of modern and pop styles, rhythms, textures and lyrical content to the stage of Blue tonight. Join the band for some finally Friday fun as the music starts at six o’clock.

Get over to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street for an early evening of rock-reggae tunes from Bud Java as the act performs a free all-ages set starting at 7pm.

Check out a fun evening of pop-rock, indie rock, alt-rock and all-around awesome sounds from Ruune, Street Sity Surf and Arwyn Sherman as these three acts team up for a night of music over at Mayo Street Arts. Things get underway during this all-ages show right around 7 o’clock.

Local jazz artist Viva will be bringing her vivacious vocals to Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland for a very funky Friday filled with funk, jazz standards, soul songs and Latin tunes that are done by Viva and her talented band with a fun and modern twist. Burlington indie folk act The DuPont Brothers are back at Blue this Friday. Don’t miss the band’s performance as music begins at 8pm.

Sir Elton John gets the tribute treatment tonight during Empire in Portland’s Tribute 2 event. Local piano man and outstanding vocalist Kris “Fingers” Rodgers has assembled a team of talented local musicians to help him bring the tunes of the one and only Rocket Man to life as they take the stage and play all of Reggie’s hits starting at 9 o’clock tonight.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland hosts another free dance party for this month’s round of Foundation Friday. Every second Friday of the month you can join DJ Mr. Dereloid and special guests for an entire evening of the finest underground dance music around. This funky, fresh Friday night par-tay gets underway right around 9 o’clock.

Get your skull rattled around a bit for a fun Friday The 13th party at Geno’s as they host some live, local, and loud metal tonight. Starting at 9 you can check out sets from Devils Nite Out, Alter The Tides, Skrye and Break The Skin.

Over at Brian Boru in the Old Port Gorilla Finger Dub Band will be pumping out the live roots, reggae, and dub-step jams. The act takes to the stage at 9:30 to provide some extremely danceable party music for anyone who loves and appreciates all things reggae and dub.

Local four-piece cover act, Fighting Fiction will be providing the perfect soundtrack for your Friday night party with a wide variety of material from all kinds of genres including modern pop, rock, alternative, country, classic rock and more. The band will be doing it to it with a free show starting at 9:30 at Bull Feeney’s.

Fun it up this Friday with some salsa tunes that have just a bit of punk influence by checking out local salsacore act El Malo as they bring the fun to the stage of Blue beginning at 10pm.

JD Gilbert & The Night Train will be bringing some country tunes to RiRa tonight for a free 21+ party that’ll get riled up right around 10pm.


Local rock and roll band Mr. Hyde brings the party to Sabattus tonight for a free show at Mixers. Boogie on with your bad self as their set kicks into gear right around 8:30pm.


Get ready for some rollicking rockabilly courtesy of Ragged Jack  as the band plays a free show at The Kerrymen Pub starting at 8.


Another fun night kicks into gear up at the Coda Restaurant in Southwest Harbor this finally Friday as El Grande prepares to bring their funky grooves full of upbeat horns and danceable reggae and ska sounds to the stage. This free all ages party starts right around 8 tonight. 


Starting at 8:30 at Thatcher’s in South Portland, you can check out some classic rock covers with a little bit of southern rock thrown in from New Hampshire act Rosie.


Welcome the freakin’ weekend with a party at Mainely Brews tonight as Maine jam band Merther brings some musical merriment to the stage. Starting at 10 o’clock you can check out some soulful, energetic jams from this fun, local act.


Starting at 8:30 tonight you can check out some tasty eats and equally tasty tunes down at The Frog & Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook where Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies will be taking over with their own brand of twisted Americana/rockabilly.

Get down tonight with hip-hop heavy hitters Ock Cousteau, Lady Essence, Zack De La Rouda and Ben Shorr with host comedian Ian Stuart team up for a free show at Live 212 in Westbrook. I’m quite certain things are gonna be “lit” (as the kids say), so make sure you pack it in right around 8 o’clock so as to make sure ya don’t miss out!

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
