All right with a little snow on the ground it’s time to start getting wicked festive by putting those Party Pants to extremely good use and getting out there this Tuesday to check out shows like the Calen Perkins Band at Blue, Clara Junken Jeremiah Tall & Swamp Candy at Empire, Doug Kolmar at Andy’s, Viva & The Reinforcements at Crooners & Cocktails, Ronda Dale & Rob Babson at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, and more.


Fat Knuckle Freddy is back at Blue this Tuesday evening. Freddy is a local composer, instrumentalist and a songwriter who plays and writes American Primitive Music on cigar box, resonator, Weissenborn, acoustic, and fretless guitars. Check out this fun night of of music as things get started up right around 7 o’clock.

Contemporary folk artist Doug Kolmar will be performing acoustically at Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening. Join Kolmar as this free all-ages event begins at 7pm.

Chicago garage punkers Twin Peaks bring their noisy nuggets and giddy spirit with tons of RnR energy to Port City Music Hall tonight. LA rock and rollers Together Pangea and musical duo Golden Daze round out tonight’s bill as this all ages show starts up at 8.

The Calen Perkins Band is at Blue tonight with some catchy melodies, infectious rhythms, and emotive lyrics for your Tuesday evening. Caleb and company draw inspiration from many artists, including Neil Young, Patty Griffin and Ryan Adams. This show starts up at 9 o’clock.

A boot stompin’, grit grindin’, banjo dancin’, ladyswingin’ good times goes down upstairs at Empire tonight as Clara Junken, Jeremiah Tall, and Swamp Candy bring some soulful roots, rock and blues tunes to the stage starting up at 9 o’clock.

Another Open Decks Night is happening at Flask Lounge tonight. Beginning at 9, you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open tables and all you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones! This event is free and always a good time so go on and check it out.

Portland siren Viva brings her vivacious vocals back to Crooners & Cocktails tonight for another performance of jazz standards alongside her talented band The Reinforcements. This free shindig gets swinging at 9 o’clock.


Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile returns to the Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland tonight for another open mic. All artists of different skills and genres are welcome as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 8.


Tonight at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza you can check out some music from local singer-songwriters Ronda Dale and Rob Babson. Ronda and Rob will be playing some original tunes and covers as well as sharing stories about their songs. This show is free and guaranteed to be a great way to kick-start your Tuesday so be sure to check it out as things get underway at 7:30.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
