And we’re back and ready for action this Monday! Tonight is acting like an extension of the weekend so if you’re looking for some live tunes to take in I’ve got a few spots for your to check out including the Jason Spooner Band at Slates, Jocelyn Emery Miller at Flatbread, WMPG’s 14th Annual Bluegrass Spectacular at One Longfellow Square, Zach Pohl at Andy’s, Blue October at the State Theatre, Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music and more!


Pop-rock and Americana act the Jason Spooner Band will be kicking off Slates Monday Night Concert Series this evening with a performance that will begin right around 8:15pm.


If you’re anywhere near the Lewiston area this Monday, drop by Pedro O’Hara’s where local pop-rocker Michael Krapovicky will be hosting another installment of his weekly acoustic Open Mic event. Tonight’s free event gets underway at 6:30 and is open to all, so grab an instrument and get ready to make some music, and some new friends tonight!


Take on this Monday by taking in some tunes out on the Portland Lobster Company deck as local act the Delta Knights bring some R&B, blues, soul, funk, swing, rock, jazz and more to this all ages shindig that’ll start up at 12:30pm.

Local singer-songwriter Jocelyn Emery Miller will be performing at Flatbread this Monday evening. Enjoy some great tunes and tasty pizza as Jocelyn’s set starts up at 6pm.

Before she gets funky at Portland House of Music later tonight with the Red Eye Flight Crew, Gina Alibrio will be performing with a few pals out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company. Join Gina and company for an early evening set of funk, soul, and R&B tunes as this free all-ages shindig gets shakin’ at 6.

Greater Portland community radio station, WPMG presents their 14th Annual Bluegrass Spectacular tonight, which is guaranteed to blow any of those those Monday blues away. Starting at 6:30 at One Longfellow Square down at local bluegrass bands Cumberland Crossing, The Grassholes and Red-Eyed Fox will come together along with some special guests for a fun night of tunes.

Austin-based roots rock musician Zach Pohl will be in Portland this evening for a free show at Andy’s Old Port Pub. Pohl’s influences include Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, John Prine, Ray Charles and more. You can check out this all-ages event as the music begins at 7 o’clock.

Texas-based rock band Blue October brings their distinctive brand of highly melodic post-grunge and a string of Billboard hits to the stage of the State tonight. Austin artist Danny Malone will start off tonight’s all ages show at 8.

Vancouver-based riot grrrl and post-punk-influenced indie rockers White Lung will be at Empire tonight. Portland’s own garage-rock n’ rollers Cool Tara will kick things into gear as music starts upstairs at 9:30pm.

Get after it tonight with another Funky Monday featuring Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music and Events. The band, which is basically most of the members of Model Airplane, back up this talented songstress for some funk, soul and R&B jams that are guaranteed to please as the good times get rollin’ right around 9.

Flask Lounge will be hosting another Primary Dance Party tonight as things get spooky with DJs Foxy, Zimbra and DoomsdayJ during their Halloween Dance Party featuring everything from Joy Division to Bauhaus and a costume contest. Rattle them bones out on the dance floor as things get underway at 9.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
