Tons of good vibes will be happening up at Gritty’s in Auburn tonight as they welcome back local jam band Continental Shakedown for a night of country, blues, jazz, improve, reggae, and rock and roll. This free show gets shakin’ at 8 o’clock.
If you’re up in Auburn, swing by the Fire House Grille starting right around 8:30 as local act Doctor Fatfinger will be busting out some great cover tunes for you to shake your groove thing to all night long.
Central Maine rock cover band Dakota will be bringing the thunder to the stage of the Penobscot Pour House as they play songs from such acts as Bon Jovi, Shinedown, Bush, Aerosmith, Journey, Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, and more beginning at 8pm.
Skilled guitarist Seth Warner will be bringing his trio to Elements on Main Street this Friday. Check out this impresario’s impressive jazz, blues and soul sounds as things get underway right around 8 at this free, all ages show.
Singer-songwriter and folk musician Ellis Paul will be performing live at the Stone Mountain Arts Center this evening. Paul performs his well-known brand of folk-pop style songs starting at 8 o’clock.
Acoustic pop singer-songwriter Jonathan Johnston and a few musically inclined pals will be making some noise at the Easy Street Lounge tonight. Join this gang of musical merrymakers as they play a free show starting up at 9.
Radio Revival will be playing you a plethora of songs that you know and love including tunes from Queen, ELO, Bowie, Tom Petty, Talking Heads, Led Zeppelin, The Strokes, Thin Lizzy, Weezer and more at Federal Jack’s tonight as this free show gets rockin’ and rollin’ right around 10pm.
Portland’s own troubadour Samuel James will be taking to the stage of Guthries for an evening of blues-based folk tunes. Don’t miss Samuel’s spellbinding storytelling via song as things start up at 8 o’clock.

The Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach is geared up for another fun-filled Friday featuring dance-pop cover act Tickle. Things get shaking at 8:30 with a party mix of some of the best music from today as well as some classic retro funk that’s guaranteed to get you out on the dance floor tonight.
Welcome the freakin’ weekend with a party at The Boomhouse in Old Town as Maine jam band Merther brings some musical merriment to the evening. Starting right around 9 you can check out some soulful, energetic jams from this fun, local act during this free, 21+ show.
Welcome the freakin’ weekend early this Friday afternoon with local musician Michael Krapovicky as he performs a set of acoustic pop-rock originals and covers over at RiRa on Commercial Street. Michael will get this free started up right around 4.
Mathew’s gets into the Old Port Festival spirit with a pre-party/kick-off up on their roof deck featuring the rock and roll sounds of local acts Jeremy Shoblock, Port City Saints, Mile 22 (Endless Escapade), Enlightened Strangelink, Arta’sin, Trial By Stone and Dark Rain. This rager gets rockin’ right around 4pm and rolls on all night long.
Portland House of Music and Events offers more in the way of Happy Hour music to check out this finally Friday as the talented musicians of the Sweet Maxwell Sullivan Trio take over the patio beginning at 4 o’clock with some great instrumental jams.
Local four-piece rock n’ roll act Riot Act will go quiet tonight for an acoustic set out on the deck of The Porthole. Tonight’s free show gets started right around 6 o’clock.
Have some fun with local folk-rock trio The Half Moon Jug Band as they bring the good times and good tunes to the stage of Blue this finally Friday. Tons of toe-tapping times take place starting up at 6pm.
Eric Bettencourt and The Loud Funs Band bring the party to the deck of Portland Lobster Company tonight. Check out some fun tunes that I expect to range from The Beatles to The Band as thing starts up at 6:30pm.
It should be a pleasant evening aboard the majestic ship known as El Galeon as local act Viva & The Reinforcements set up shop for a Spanish-themed evening. The band will be performing a set of Latin and jazz infused songs during this event, which gets underway at 7pm and features Spanish-themed dinner on board.
Head out to Munjoy Hill tonight as St. Lawrence Arts Center welcomes local act, Downeast Soul Coalition, to the stage for a weekend party chock full of some solid funk and soul sounds. This shindig will get swinging right around 7:30pm.
MJ’s Wine Bar welcomes back Portland piano man Mike Maurice to their swanky lounge-area for a Friday filled with funk, soul and jazz. Join Mike and imbibe in some delicious vino as things get underway at 8pm.
The musical event known as Come Together returns to Portland House of Music and Events for another eclectic variety show with an in the round stage set up that completely surrounds the audience with music. It’s very, very awesome and tonight the show boats musical performances by Covered in Bees, Skosh, Clara Junken, Forget, Forget, Push/Shove and OC and the Offbeats and will be hosted by writer Victoria Karol. The bands will all take turns playing their songs in a showcase that is engaging, fun, and completely out of the ordinary. Tonight’s 21+ event starts promptly at 8pm.

High-energy Appalachian gospel act O’Death returns to the stage of SPACE Gallery tonight. They’ll be joined by The Huntress and Holder of Hands, the new project of MorganEve Swain. A multi-instrumental string player, vocalist and songwriter, Swain is widely known as half of the music duo, Brown Bird, with her husband, Dave Lamb. Pete Bernhard, frontman of alt-americana favorites, The Devil Makes Three, opens the evening as music starts at 8:30.
Sylvain’s Acadian Aces are back at Salvage BBQ on Congress Street this finally Friday. Beginning at 8:30 these talented gents will be serving up some authentic Cajun tunes for you to go dance around to.
Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland hosts another installment of their super fun Foundation Friday event. Each and every second Friday of the month you can join Mr. Dereloid and special guests for a free dance party featuring the finest underground dance jams around. For this month’s edition, special guest Eddy Van Raven will be teaming up with resident DJ Mr. Dereloid for a funky, fresh night of dance tunes that’ll get your rump shaking staring at 9 o’clock.
California-based roots collective The Dustbowl Revival will be blowing through Portland tonight with a show Port City Music Hall. The act merges old school bluegrass, gospel, jug-band, swamp blues and the hot swing of the 1930’s to form a spicy roots cocktail. Check out tonight’s show as things get underway at 9 with an opening set from local folk artist Max Garcia Conover.
Vinyl Tap is ready once again to get up to get down this evening over at Gritty’s in the Old Port with their decidedly danceable cover tunes that range from everything such as Cee Lo, Huey Lewis, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and more. There’s never a cover charge and plenty of beer, so check it out starting at 9.
Empire’s monthly music series Tribute 2 will be paying homage to the Foozer Tour tonight. The Foozer Tour was a series of concerts that took place in 2005 and featured co-headliners and alt-rock powerhouses Weezer and the Foo Fighters. Get your Weezer and Foo lovin’ fannies upstairs as the rockin’ starts right around 9:30.

Local cover band Stolen Mojo will be playing some pop, rock, Motown, R&B, funk, disco and country jams from the last five decades during a free show at RiRa tonight. Join in on the dance party as the music gets grooving right around 10.
One of my favorite places in Maine is celebrating its 5 year anniversary this weekend with one helluva party. Join Moose Alley as they mark half a decade of good times, good tunes, and tons of bowling with alt-country act The Mallett Brothers Band, who kick off a two-night stint starting at 9 o’clock tonight.
The party polished Bob Charest Band will be entertaining one and all at The Landing at Pine Point tonight with some versatile and fun party songs that they’ll start playing right around 8 this evening.
The Sandy River Ramblers, one of Maine’s most entertaining acoustic music ensembles, will be performing their repertoire of bluegrass songs specifically about Maine during a performance up at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts this Friday evening. Join the band for some musical, Maine-based merriment as things get underway at 7pm.
