We’re doing it to it slow and steady this week as we hurdle the hump into this evening. Per usual there’s a bunch of awesome shows happening all around tonight, so get out there and have some fun at such shows as David Gans with The Maine Dead Project at Portland House of Music and Events, Acoustic Punk Night at Flask Lounge, Never Been To Tennessee at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, Brit Floyd at the Cross Insurance Center, and more.
Tonight Brit Floyd brings the music of Pink Floyd to life with its lavish new stage show, ‘Immersion World Tour 2017’ over at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. This evening’s stellar performance gets underway at 7:30pm.
Take in some roots rock tunes during a free show at Champions tonight. Starting at 9 local musician Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of songs.
Local musical group, Los Galactacos, comprised of adventuring stringbenders, strummers, pickers, and percussionists exploring an atlas of music styles and songs, will be performing at Frontier once again tonight as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge music series. Los Galactacos repertoire includes Tex/Mex folk, Appalachian string music, Canadian Maritimes fiddle tunes, the Classic American Songbook, ol’ time Country, and more. Check them out as things get underway at 7:30 during tonight’s free performance.
Folk-rock cover band Rippleton Cross will host another open mic at Cole Farms this evening. The pair will be performing some tunes as well as encouraging others to get up on the microphone for some musical revelry as this free and all ages gathering gets underway at 7pm.
Local indie pop singer-songwriter Lucas Roy will be at Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening. Roy draws his influences from such artists as John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz, and James Bay. This free, all-ages show will start at 7pm.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues tonight with a special ticketed show featuring Cathal Hayden (fiddle/banjo) and Patrick Dooney (guitar). Cathal is one of the premiere players of Irish music and has performed with the likes of Martin Hayes, Tommy Emmanuel, Mairtin O’Connor, Four Men and a Dog, Christy Moore, Stockton’s Wing, Donal Lunny and many more. He has won 6 All-Ireland titles and was added to the Hall of Fame at the Fiddler’s Green Festival. Check out the pair’s performance as music begins at 7:30pm tonight.
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Dan Navarro will be at One Longfellow Square this Wednesday evening. Dan’s career began as a songwriter, most often with Eric Lowen, for artists as diverse as Pat Benatar (the Grammy-nominated “We Belong”), The Bangles, Jackson Browne,Dave Edmunds, The Temptations, Dionne Warwick, Dutch superstar Marco Borsato, The Triplets, and Austin outlaw legend Rusty Weir. Opening this evening’s show will be singer-songwriter Darden Smith, who’s set is slated to start at 8pm.
Check out a super fun and free show over at Flask Lounge tonight as they host another installment of Acoustic Punk Night featuring stripped down, acoustic performances by Kris and Nakita, Scotty Saints, Wussy, Tuesday Morning Wrestling, Matt Andersen, Not 30, Pete O’Brien and more. Check out some unplugged punk performances as things start up at 8.
Local folk artist Dave Rowe will be performing at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight. Join Rowe for some rollicking good times as this free show gets underway at 8pm.
Perhaps the foremost interpreter of Grateful Dead music today, and an accomplished guitarist, singer and songwriter in his own right, David Gans, will be joining The Maine Dead Project for a night of well-crafted and heartfelt covers of some of the Dead’s most beloved songs. Join in on the fun as this midweek show starts up at Portland House of Music and Events at 9pm tonight.
Crooners & Cocktails welcomes back local duo Hello Clarice as this pair of talented fellas bring some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.
Local country act Never Been To Tennessee will be singing some songs at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza tonight. Starting at 7 Scott Girouard and Kevin Ward will be serving up classic country covers from such artists as Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and a whole lot more during this free, all ages show.
The Frog and Turtle welcomes back local musician Tom Douglas for an evening of acoustic classic covers and original songs. Join Tom as this free and all-ages show starts up at 7:30pm.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
