With influences rooted in blues, folk and pop, Phil Allen will likely treat you to some cover songs ranging anywhere from Johnny Cash to One Republic and all things in between as he he returns to The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro tonight for another free, all-ages show. The music starts at 6 o’clock.
Local musician Steve Jones and a few of his musically inclined friends will be playing some songs at The Liberal Cup this evening. Jones and company will be performing a blend of rockabilly, country, old-time rock and roll, Americana, roots and more starting at 7 o’clock.
Get yourself over to the Easy Street Lounge in Hallowell tonight for an evening of fun acoustic jams as Sa Rah’s Serenades continue. Let this lovely local songstress sing you some sweet songs as things get started up at this free show right around 9 o’clock.
Local folk-rock musician Brian Patricks returns to Andy’s in the Old Port tonight. Patricks intertwines finger-style, rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out his solo set as this free all-ages show starts at 7.
Any and all of you Dead Heads who are looking to get your Thursday night noodle on should make some moves down to the State Theatre as Dark Star Orchestra returns to crank out classic jams from Jerry and the boys. This all ages show starts at 8 with an opening set from Susana Millman & Dennis McNally.
The Portland Jazz Orchestra returns to One Longfellow Square tonight. This 18-piece jazz ensemble performs a variety of traditional and contemporary big band literature. This special PJO performance will feature Trent Austin on trumpet as the jazz orchestra plays music of jazz trumpet greats such as Clark Terry, Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Bobby Shew and Maynard Ferguson. You can check them out as things begin right around 8pm.
Portland singer-songwriter Sorcha Cribben-Merrill returns to the stage of Blue tonight. Cribben-Merrill is a staple of the Maine music scene with stirring folk-blues-soul compositions that she sings in a sultry, jazz voice of unexpected power. Check her out as this solo show starts up at 9.
Kilcollins return to RiRa to rock the night away with a free and fun show that’ll start up around 9. The fellas will get your booty shaking out on the dance floor with all kinds of songs that you know and love as well as some catchy original jams that are sure to keep you moving.
Tonight the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts hosts local folk artist Tanner Olin Smith and folk-rock act Tonic Engine for a night of musical revelry. These talented musicians will take to the stage for performances that will begin at 7 o’clock.
