Local act Starcrossed Losers will be performing at Waterfall Arts in Belfast tonight alongside fellow Maine based musical act Hollow Horse as part of the Free Range Music Series. Starcrossed Losers is the music of Kyle Morgan, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist working with a rotating cast of bandmates from Maine to Pennsylvania. Tonight’s performance will range in style from stripped-down acoustic balladry to old-school rock n’ roll, gritty gypsy-blues and distorted proto-punk. This show starts up at 7:30pm.

Local band JD Gilbert & The Night Train will be bringing some toe-tappin’ country tunes to The Brunswick this finally Friday. This free party gets rockin’ and rollin’ right around 8:30pm.
A free and fun First Friday show happens over at the Dogfish Bar & Grille this evening as roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns for an all ages Happy Hour set that’ll start up right around 5 o’clock.
Blue welcomes back local bluegrass duo Darlin’ Corey as the pair celebrates the release of the first record titled ‘When Evening Falls’. Tonight’s celebration begins at 6pm and will feature the duo’s delightful blend of vocal harmonies, fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitars alongside special guest, bassist Kris Day.
Reality show contest winner turned Nashville hit maker Chris Young will be in Portland tonight as he performs at the Cross Insurance Arena. Cassadee Pope and Dustin Lynch kick off tonight’s show with sets starting at 7:30.
Big World, a new band from Portland which focuses on taking compositions from jazz and other musical genres to explore the musical form through improvisation, will be playing a show this evening at Mayo Street Arts. Beginning at 7:30 the act will be performing both original compositions as well as their interpretations of songs by such artists as Sonny Sharrock, James Brown, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and more.
David Scott Norton will be back at Andy’s tonight with the Honky-Tonkin’ Acadia Band. David and company will be performing some old-time, honky-tonk, country music and singing songs from the likes of Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins, and more. This free show starts up at 8pm.
Okbari Middle Eastern Ensemble will be entertaining the patrons of Blue with an evening of music from the Middle East and Turkey starting right around 8 o’clock. This local act performs on such unique and beautiful instruments as oud (fretless Middle Eastern lute), qanun (72-stringed Middle Eastern micro-tonal zither), nay (ancient Middle Eastern reed flute), and Middle Eastern percussion. This show is guaranteed to expand your musical horizon so be sure to check it out if you’re downtown this First Friday evening.
Lovely local lady and lover of all things music Kimmy Welch Wilson will be holding her 7th Annual Psychedelic Odd Ball tonight over at the Portland House of Music. This terrific party serves as a fundraiser for Music and Magic Maine, a local organization dedicated to providing musical instruments and creative opportunities to the children of Maine. Things get swinging at 8 with performances from A Band Beyond Description doing a special Jerry set, Great North bringing some fun jams as well as Eddy Dyer, Singepole Mountain Band, Rijah Newell and many more.
