Acoustic Americana act Double Entendre will be hosting an open bluegrass jam at The Gin Mill in Augusta this evening. Join in on the musical revelry as things get underway at 7:30pm.
If you’re up in Camden this Thursday evening check out a free show filled with some smooth sounds as The Wayne DeLano Jazz Quartet performs at the Elm Street Grille starting at 6 o’clock.
Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile will be hosting another open mic event over at Local Buzz. All musicians of varying skills and genres are welcome to get up on the microphone and perform as things get underway right around 7:30pm.
Richard Wood and Gordon Belcher will be teaming up for a full evening of music and stories at 430 Bayside in Ellsworth this evening. The pair will be blending vocals, guitar and fiddle to fill the joint with laughter, tears and top notch musicianship. Brook Lachance and Jason Fogg will be bringing their duet set to Sea40 in Lewiston tonight. Join them for sushi and spirits while they perform original music as well as covers that range from Heart, Radiohead, Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen and more. This all-ages and free event will begin at 7.
Portland psychedelic folk-rocker Dominic Lavoie and a couple of his friends come together this evening to play some tunes as Keanu Keanu out on the deck of Portland Lobster Company. Check out a set of both original jams and cover tunes as this free, all ages shindig gets swinging around 6 o’clock.
American blues, funk and soul guitarist and singer-songwriter, Andrew Bailie teams up with one of the funkiest bass men to ever lay it down aka Stu Mahan for an evening of music at Blue on Congress Street. Don’t miss this talented pairs set of songs that are certain to get your Thursday night off to a great start as things get underway at 6pm.
Tonight Andy’s Old Port Pub will host musician Logan Burns. Burns will be performing some acoustic blues tunes during a free and all-ages show that’ll start at 7 o’clock.
Self-described bedroom-folk artist, Aaron Waldman, who strives for the grit of Lou Reed, the painful honesty of Elliott Smith, and the vibrant orchestrations of Surfjan Stevens, brings his music to the stage of Portland House of Music and Events tonight. Waldman will be joined by hip-hop artist, Jacobsen for some tunes. Gypsy/surf/punk band, Wyld Lyfe and funk/fusion act, Sassquatch round out tonight’s bill. Music starts up at 8 o’clock.
Blue welcomes back Portland-based contemporary bluegrass band Cumberland Crossing for an evening of bustling bluegrass music. Tonight’s free show gets kickin’ around 8.
A seriously must-see show is happening at Port City Music Hall tonight as the venue welcomes indie underground favorites, Meat Puppets to the stage. This revered rock band gained notoriety in the ’80s with their hard, loud, and fast tunes that incorporate elements of the blues-rock of ZZ Top, the ambling folk-rock of the Grateful Dead, and Neil Young’s country-rock and hard rock sounds. Also on tonight’s bill is former Minutemen and Firehouse bassist, Mike Watt, who’ll be joined by the jom & terry show, and to start things off right around 8 at this 18+ show will be co-founder of Hüsker Dü, Grant Hart. Seriously, what a friggin line up; don’t miss it!
Mellow your mind with some stellar jams at Gritty’s during another fun night with the one and only A Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these fellas jam out on everything from Phish, the Allman Brothers, The Band and more. Anticipate good times, good tunes and good people starting right around 9.
Black metal meanders, Shabti, sludgy Portland weirdos, Cadaverette, and local dark metal act, Megog will be bringing the thunder to Geno’s tonight. Things get loud starting at 9:30pm.
MB Padfield brings her distinct fusion of pop, rock, blues, jazz and hip-hop elements to Brian Boru tonight. Check out Padfield’s guitar skills and smoky vocals as things get underway at 7:30 with some songs spun by DJ Tiny Dancer.
Aura in Portland welcomes alternative rock act Jimmy Eat World to the stage alongside special guests Beach Slang. Once a trailblazing name in the mid-’90s emocore scene, Jimmy Eat World eventually found a larger audience by embracing a blend of alternative rock and power pop that targeted the heart as well as the head. Check ‘em out alongside opening act, Beach Slang as music begins at 9 o’clock.
Check out a free show at RiRa as Ryan Halliburton and The Still bring some pop-rock tunes to the stage during a free show that starts up at 9pm.
Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza welcomes back local instrumentalist and vocalist Seth Warner and a couple of his friends to the stage for a free show filled with blues, country, folk, re-imagined jazz and songbook standards. Don’t miss out on the fun as things get underway at 7 o’clock.
