If you’re south of Portland tonight and looking to take in some tasty roots rock jams then make your way down to Champions Sports Bar in Biddeford where Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of tunes. Humphrey will be doing his thing starting at 10. It’s a free event with plenty of beer on hand so no excuses; check it out!
Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile returns to the Local Buzz for another Open Mic this Thursday evening. All artists of different skills and genres are welcome as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 7.
Serenades with Sa Rah continue at Easy Street Lounge tonight so be sure to grab a cozy seat, enjoy a delicious cocktail, and get ready to hear some lovely acoustic tunes courtesy of this local songstress as this free show starts at 9:30.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
Get down to the beach tonight to party with local band American Ride as they bust out a ton of modern country covers at Mr. Goodbar. Boot scootin’, toe tappin’ and yeehawin’ will begin during this free show right around 7 o’clock.
The Brunswick in Old Orchard is geared up for an fun Thirsty Thursday featuring dance-pop cover act Tickle. Things get shaking at 8pm with a super party mix of some of the best music from today as well as some classic retro funk that’s guaranteed to get you out on the dance floor.
Pop-rock and roller Alex Roy will be performing a set of original and cover songs at Jimmy The Greeks in Old Orchard Beach as part of the restaurant’s Local Flavah Thursday. The evening gets underway at 8 and will feature music and select Maine brews and liquors for only $4. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be fun so swing through if you’re in the area this Thursday.
Two of my favorite Portland players (and people) will be joining musical forces once again for another set of Happy Hour songs out on the patio of Portland House of Music and Events tonight. Starting at 4 o’clock make some plans to stop by and check out local siren Renee Coolbrith and Portland piano man Kris Rodgers as they serenade you with some seriously sweet sounds during this free, all ages show.
A super summertime show will be happening out on the Maine State Pier tonight as The Beach Boys (please note this is Mike Love’s version of The Beach Boys so don’t be surprised if you see John Stamos aka Uncle Jesse playing some drums) and The Temptations come together for an evening of smooth summer sounds. Tickets are still available for this all ages show, which starts up right around 6 o’clock.
Tonight at The Porthole southern Maine act Rizing Tide will be playing some rock-based cover tunes with a few blues, classic rock, Top 40 hits and original tunes to keep you dancing the night away. This free show will get swinging out on the deck right around 6pm.
Portland psychedelic folk-rocker Dominic Lavoie and a couple of his friends (ahem, Jeff Beam and Dan Capaldi) come together tonight to play some tunes as Keanu Keanu out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company. It should be a perfect evening to check out some free jams, both originals and covers, as this all ages, outdoor shindig gets swinging right around 6:30.
Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes folk-rock singer-songwriter Kristin Myers to the stage tonight for a free show which will begin at 7pm.
Salvage BBQ welcomes back Portland piano man Mike Maurice to their lounge-area for a Thursday evening of funk, soul and jazz jams. Join Mike and imbibe in some delicious BBQ as things get underway at 7.
Firmly rooted in the great jazz organ tradition of the 20th Century but with the contemporary influence of today’s world music, Micromasse has become a favorite amongst the Maine music scene. They continue to explore new sounds through classic instrumentation with their latest record, Anthropocene, which they celebrate the release of tonight at One Longfellow Square. Check out the melodic and mesmerizing sounds of Chris Sweet, Max Cantlin and Pete Dugas as the three combine guitar, drums and organ to pump out some superior instrumental jams alongside some superb special guests including Sara Hallie Richardson, Computer at Sea, Brian Desmond Graham, Lucas Desmond, Gideon Forbes and Dave Noyes. Micromasse is excited to share their new sounds with you as this show starts at 8pm.
Award-winning Maine singer and songwriter Lisa Redfern will be celebrating the release of her latest record with a show at Acoustic Artisans in Portland tonight. The album, titled Chickadee, features Redfern’s blend of folk, bluegrass, country, gospel, blues, and swing. See her perform some of the songs from the CD live starting at 8 o’clock.
Tonight electro-pop rock act Dean Ford & The Keepsakes will be rockin’ the Oasis patio tonight. This show is free and is guaranteed to be chock full of pulsating beats, infections hooks, screaming synths, shredding guitar, and soaring singalongs as things get jumping at 9.
The super fun fellas in local act Kilcollins will be doing it to it over at RiRa this Thirsty Thursday. Beginning at 9 the boys will be rockin’ you with all sorts of tunes that you know and love alongside a handful of catchy original jams for good measure. It’s free, fun and I would say guaranteed to be a good time, so check it out if you’re downtown this evening.
Rob Burnell will be performing at Portland House of Music and Events tonight. With influences in hip-hop, classic rock, and R&B, Burnell brings soul into everything he sings. As a performer with a great sound, catchy songs, and an unfaltering voice, Burnell is guaranteed to light up the stage alongside his talented band tonight. Rounding out tonight’s fantastic bill will be local act, Native Isles, which features a veritable who’s who of local musicians including Emma Stanley on vocals, trumpet/flugelhorn, Tyler Stanley on keys and vocals, Pete Morse on guitar and vocals, and Andy Robbins on drums, and the lovely and exceptionally talented local songstress Katherine Matzell Frederick and her band, who will begin the evening with a set that starts right around 9 o’clock.
Check out some free music upstairs at Bull Feeney’s tonight as local artists Caleb Jones and Olivia Delisle come together to play this evening. The duo play a variety of songs from originals to covers incorporating soaring harmonies, acoustic guitar, fiddle and even a little bit of harmonica action. Tonight’s show gets underway right around 9:30.
Hartford, CT improv jam-rock band McLovins returns to the stage of Empire tonight. Albany’s Mister F will get the night started with some serious grooves as the party starts upstairs right around 9:30pm.
Boston-based Beatles tribute band, Studio Two, will be taking you back to the early 60’s, a time when The Fab Four were truly taking the world by storm, as these talented gents play a free show out at Memorial Park in Scarborough. Join these fab fellas for some serious nostalgic fun as the music starts at 6:30pm.
