Hooray for Thursday! Not only are we making some serious strides to the freakin’ weekend, but we’re also being blessed with some serious fun as tonight offers up a surplus of awesome things to do. So go ahead and get your Thursday on at such shows as Atlas Genius with Cape Cannons at Port City Music Hall, an open mic with Uke n’ Smile at the Local Buzz, Brian Patricks at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Kafari & Henry Redman at Blue, Seth Warner at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, and more!
Uke n’ Smile returns to the Local Buzz this evening for another open mic event. All musicians of different skills and genres are welcome as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 7:30.
Don Hebert of The Veggies goes solo for a performance at Rails in Lewiston. Don will be bringing a show chock full of fun and danceable cover tunes to the stage as this free shindig gets swinging at 5:30.
Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes back local folk-rocker Brian Patricks for an early evening of music. Patricks intertwines finger style rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out Patricks’ solo set as this free all-ages show begins at 7 o’clock.
Locally based, professional Klezmer band, The Casco Bay Tummlers are back at Blue tonight with some Traditional Eastern European Jewish music. This all-ages performance will begin at 7 o’clock.
Good tunes, good beer…and good sausage? Yup, a magical combo if you ask me. If this sounds good to you then make some moves to the Thirsty Pig tonight to check out the musical stylings of local alt-country rocker Joe Gallant who’ll be serenading you starting at 7pm tonight.
Sharped-edged Australian indie alternative rock act Atlas Genius will be making some noise at Port City Music Hall tonight. Portland based experimental rock band Cape Cannons will get this 18+ show started with an opening set slated to begin at 8pm.
Acoustic roots rocker and County-bred folk troubadour Travis Cyr will be joined by the Stay Glad Band at Portland House of Music and Events tonight as he celebrates the release of his brand new record, appropriately titled, “Stay Glad”. Travis’ pals Dan Capaldi, Dominic Lavoie and Frank Hopkins will do double duty tonight as they help comprise Cyr’s backing band as well as provide some sounds throughout the evening with their own musical projects Sea Level, Dominic Lavoie, and Line of Force (LoF hasn’t played in what seems forever! Holy moly, their set will be a treat!), respectively. Things get started at 8 o’clock and there are certain to be a few surprises as well as an immense amount of do good-ing so make some plans to head on out to PHOME to help celebrate Travis’ latest endeavor.
Electronic artist, pianist, and rhythm bones player Kafari will be performing with Henry Redman on tenor sax and drums at Blue this evening. Kafari gathers sounds from the world using a pocket-sized recorder, warping them and weaving them together to create a blend of jazz, ambient, and experimental music that feels like a warm day blooming in the middle of winter. Check out tonight’s show as things get underway at 9pm.
Kilcollins will be pop-rockin’ all night long at RiRa on Commercial Street this thirsty Thursday. Starting at 9 o’clock these fellas will be busting out all sorts of tunes that you know and love alongside some catchy original numbers.
