Oh, Thursday, how I’ve missed you! I am going to completely disregard the fact that I am as the French would say le tired (no they wouldn’t say that, but whatever) and hike up my prettiest pair of Party Pants and get down on it this Thirsty Thursday. Tons of stuff to do tonight, so don’t wuss out, but rather get out there and do it to it at such shows as Crunk Witch at Arcadia, Phil N’ The Blanks at Gritty’s, Mallett & Martelle (Will & Andrew of the Mallett Brothers Band) at The Rack, Brian Patricks at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Drive-By Truckers at Port City Music Hall, Cumberland Crossing at Blue, Vinyl Tap at Brian Boru, Rite Hook, The Immortals, Shameek The God & more at Portland House of Music and so much more!


If you’re up in the Auburn area tonight check out an acoustic set from local singer-songwriter Donnie Hebert as he plays a free show at the Fire House Grille starting at 7:30pm.

Phil ’N The Blanks will be bringing some blues, folk and pop covers to Gritty’s in Auburn this Thursday evening. Join the duo for some fun tunes spanning everything from Johnny Cash to One Republic as this free show gets shaking right around 8. 


Mallett & Martelle (Will and Andrew of the Mallett Brothers Band) will be bringing the boot-stomping good times to the stage of The Rack tonight with some alt-country and roots rock tunes. Join these fellas for some fun as things get started up around 7.


Locally based acoustic act Uke n’ Smile returns to the Local Buzz tonight for another Open Mic. All artists and genres are welcome to join in on the creative fun as this free, all-ages gathering gets started up at 7pm.


Local rock n’ roller, Josh Robbins will be joined by his band of merry misfits, The Sump Pumps, for some good times and good tunes at the Liberal Cup in Hallowell. Tonight’s free show gets underway right around 7pm.

Sa Rah’s Serenades continue at Easy Street Lounge tonight. Grab a cozy seat, enjoy a delicious cocktail, and get ready to hear some lovely acoustic tunes courtesy of this local songstress as this free show starts up at 9pm.


Get your Thursday night started up with some stellar sounds from local artist Kafari over at Portland House of Music and Events. Starting at 5 you can stop in and check out the super eclectic jazz and funk tunes sounds Kafari creates via his keyboard during this free and fun show.

Local folk-rocker, Brian Patricks will be playing a handful of original tunes paired with classic covers that pretty much everyone knows and loves down at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland this Monday evening. Patricks begins his set right around 7 and will rock you on in to the 9 o’clock hour.

Singer-songwriters Heather Stewart and Leah Finklestein will be joining forces tonight for an evening of acoustic Americana, folk, jazz and rock sounds as they share stories and songs during a show at Blue that’ll get underway right around 7 o’clock tonight.

Alt-country, Southern rock n’ rollers, the Drive-By Truckers return to Portland for show down at Port City Music Hall tonight. The act will be lighting up the stage alongside fellow alt-country rockers the Thayer Sarrano Band as things get underway right around 8 o’clock.

Michael Taylor of Rustic Overtones, Royal Hammer, The Awesome, and many more musical acts from around town will be going solo tonight for a fun set of songs in the lounge at Sonny’s tonight. Join Taylor for some good times and good tunes as things start up during tonight’s free show right around 8:30pm. 

Blue on Congress Street in Portland welcomes back contemporary bluegrass act Cumberland Crossing for another night of of bustling bluegrass with a free show that gets kicking right around 9 o’clock. Directly following the band’s set will be an all out bluegrass jam that’s open to any and all musicians who wanna join in. Swing through and have some fun tonight if you’re kicking around downtown.

Local pop-rockers, Kilcollins are back on the stage of RiRa this Thursday as they get the party started at 9 o’clock with their party mix of original jams and awesome cover tunes. Tonight’s show is free so swing through if you’re Thursdaying in the Old Port!

Local hip-hop label Immortal Music presents a night of local rap upstairs at Portland House of Music and Events tonight. Beginning at 9, swing through to check out sets from Rite Hook, The Immortals, Shameek the God, Riga Tone with battles including Ghost, High Grade, Lift, and Ness.

Local synth-art rock and rollers Leveret will be bringing some music to the stage of Empire tonight. Joining these fun fellas will be local noise rockers Triode, slowcore mavens Perfect Hair and Boston’s grunge and punk rock act Thirty Silver. Get into the action as things get underway upstairs at 9:30.

Vinyl Tap is back at it tonight to play a plethora of songs that are certain to get your Thursday night rocking and rolling. Starting at 9:30 at Brian Boru in the Old Port, you check out covers of Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Huey Lewis, Elton John, Charlie Daniels, and much more.

A vast blend of hip-hop, electro-pop and straight up electronica will be taking over Arcadia tonight as Crunk Witch plays a free event, which gets underway at 10 o’clock tonight.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
