Empire’s Three for 3 continues tonight with Bourgeois Mystics, The Last Sip & El Malo

Surprisingly Monday wasn’t as brutal as I was anticipating it to be, and I hope that it was much of the same for you guys as well. It looks like Tuesday is shaping up to be wicked decent too, so get those Party Pants pressed and ready and check out show such as JoJo at Port City Music, Jesus Cactus at Blue, Nat Hussey at Andy’s Old Port Pub, an open mic with Uke n’ Smile at Sea Dog Brewing Company and more!

PORTLAND

The Loblolly Boy brings a unique style of dynamic lyric-driven Americana to the stage of Blue this Tuesday evening. Check out tonight’s performance as music begins at 6pm.

Folk-rock singer-songwriter Nat Hussey returns to the stage of Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening for a night of songs and stories that will start up right around 7 o’clock.

R&B-inspired pop vocalist and songwriter JoJo brings her Mad Love Tour to Portland tonight for an all-ages performance at Port City Music Hall. Tonight’s show starts up at 8.

Electronic music comes in all sounds, colors, and textures, but drummer RJ Miller exploits the ambient side with chilled themes and moody soundscapes that you can check out tonight as he brings his latest musical endeavor, Jesus Cactus, to the stage of Blue. Miller expertly juxtaposes his drum kit with piano, keyboards, and analog synthesizers through infectious melodies that move and groove as things begin right around 8 o’ clock tonight.

Empire’s Three for 3 music series—where you get to see three awesome bands for just $3—rolls on this Tuesday evening with performances by Bourgeois Mystics, The Last Sip and El Malo. The party starts up at 9 o’clock.

Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Gritty’s tonight for another free, solo set that’ll start up right around 9 o’clock this evening.

Flask Lounge in Portland presents another open mic for DJs with their free dance party, which allows up and coming record spinners to take a chance and get up on the tables during the event. All you need to bring are your records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome as the party starts right around 9 o’clock, so check it out.

SOUTH PORTLAND 

Local acoustic act Uke n’ Smile is back at Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland for another free, all-ages open mic event. All genres of music, musicians of varying skills, capabilities, and ages are welcome to join in on the fun as the music starts at 8pm.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
