Ohhh yeahhh! Now picture the Kool Aid dude smashing straight through a brick wall to announce that it is Tuesday! That dude represents my feelings to the fullest today as we move forward through another evening chock full of incredibly cool happenings. There’s a whole bunch of awesome shows to check out, so bust through some proverbial walls and take this mother to the limit this Tuesday evening at such shows as the Furniture Friends Benefit at Portland House of Music and Events, Uke n’ Smile at Sea Dog Brewing Company, Hoodie Allen with Sammy Adams & B. Aull at the Collins Center for the Arts, and more!
Fast Breaks welcomes back Maine-based, acoustic alternative artist John Hasnip this evening. Starting around 7 John will be playing some fun tunes for you to bust a move or two to this Tuesday.
Check out a show happening up in Orono at the Collins Center for the Arts as Waterfront Concerts welcomes Long Island-based pop-rapper, Hoodie Allen. Also on tonight’s bill are Sammy Adams and B. Aull. This show will happen outdoors in the parking lot of the venue and is free to all University of Maine students. Music starts at 6pm.
Tonight Portland House of Music and Events hosts an evening of exuberant music and dance plus delicious international food compliments of local purveyors all to benefit Furniture Friends. Furniture Friends provides donated furniture to people in need in Greater Portland area helping to turn empty apartments into homes Performers tonight will include Primo Cubano, Mbondo Africa, Don Campbell, and Sudo Sudo Dancers. This evening’s benefit event will begin at 6pm.
Tonight Flask Lounge will host an installment of OPEN. This time around the event will feature a showcase of local beat creators. This evening’s gathering acts as a firm nod to those who choose to create rather than emulate. Each producer will play 30 minutes of their own original material. Things get underway at 8 during this free show which will feature Dave Bregoli, Punky Bruiser, Bruce FLA$H, God.Damn.Chan, Highkoo, MOSART212, NewUknown and Phantom Signal.
Local rock and rollers, Classy on Occasion is releasing their first full length album, She Devil, with special guests Tim Mercer and Mechanical Banshees during Empire’s Three for 3 music series tonight. Expect a night full of fun and great music as these local artists rock out upstairs starting at 9pm.
Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile returns to Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland tonight for another open mic event. All artists of different skills, genres, and ages are welcome to get up on the microphone as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 8pm.
Tonight at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza you can check out some music from local singer-songwriters Ronda Dale and Ron Babson. Ronda and Ron will be playing some original tunes and covers as well as sharing stories about their songs. This show is free and guaranteed to be a great way to kick-start your evening, so be sure to check it out as things get underway at 7.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
