Gas Station Mentality, Meanmugg, No Good & Cellar Fox play Empire tonight

Oh yes, yes, y’all! It’s time to take it to the limit again this Tuesday in celebration of surviving another Monday! High fives all around! If you’re looking to blow off some steam and let loose this evening, here are some places to check out, including Double Entendre at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, Choro Louco at Blue, Ron Bergeron at Fast Breaks, and more!


Fast Breaks in Lewiston welcomes back Ron Bergeron for a night of tunes. Ron will be serving up tons of great songs starting at 7pm including covers of The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and maybe even a little Lady Gaga. If you’re in the area be sure to stop by and check out some good tunes during this free and fun show.


Head on out to Blue for a Tuesday night filled with acoustic blues, guitar rags and original tunes performed on both 6 and 12-string guitar as Frank Fotusky returns to the stage for a show that’ll get started at 6:30pm.

Another free and all ages show happens at Andy’s Old Port Pub as they welcome back local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale to the stage for an acoustic performance that will begin at 7pm.

Local rock and roller Tim Mercer will be performing at St. Lawrence Arts on Munjoy Hill this evening as fundraising event to help out this terrific Portland venue. Mercer is a musician from right here in Portland and spent 12 years in Brooklyn, NY fronting the rock band, Daphne. During his time in New York, Tim won the K-Rock Battle of the Bands, and was the runner up in the HBO Rock The Stones Contest, as well as the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Tonight you can see him perform live in this intimate and unique setting as music starts up right around 7 o’clock.

Check out some tunes by Portland’s only Brazilian choro ensemble, Choro Louco, as they play another show at Blue. Choro Louco features local musicians Carl Dimow, Nicole Rabata, Joel Eckhaus, Eric LaPerna, and David Newsmam. This evening’s performance begins at 8:30pm.

Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Gritty’s tonight for another free, solo set that’ll start up right around 9 o’clock this evening.

Flask Lounge in Portland presents another open mic for DJs with their free dance party, which allows up and coming record spinners to take a chance and get up on the tables during the event. All you need to bring are your records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome as the party starts right around 9 o’clock, so check it out.

Empire’s Three for 3 music series rolls on this Tuesday evening and tonight you’ll be getting 3+1 bands for only three bucks! Check out some fun sets full of thrash, ska, grunge, blues and punk rock as Montreal’s Gas Station Mentality teams up with local bands Meanmugg, No Good and Cellar Fox for tonight’s show, which’ll get swinging upstairs starting at 9.


Local acoustic act Uke n’ Smile is back at Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland for another free, all-ages open mic event. All genres of music, musicians of varying skills, capabilities, and ages are welcome to join in on the fun as the music starts at 8pm.


Acoustic Americana act Double Entendre will be playing a set at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza this evening. This talented duo will start making some savory sounds starting right around 8pm.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
